Pair from Bakersfield, Calif. arrested for allegedly trafficking methamphetamine into Carson City

A pair from Bakersfield, Calif. were arrested in the 3800 block of S. Carson Street early Friday morning for allegedly trafficking methamphetamine, and prohibited people in possession of a gun, among other offenses.

Harvey Mahoney, 31, and Aimee Negre, 36, were arrested around 3:30 a.m. after deputies were walking through the parking lot of a local S. Carson Street casino when they made contact with the pair.

Beatles tribute, Genoa Candy Dance, Street Vibrations, dog show and more: Carson City region set for jam-packed weekend

Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of jam-packed activities over the next three days. Events include the 100th annual Candy Dance in Genoa, the Carson City Community Center Garage Sale, free walks at Nevada State Parks, Virginia City’s Street Vibrations Fall Rally, the 31st annual All-Breed Dog Shows, The Beatles Flashback tribute band concert and much more!

Pirate Pup Parade, viewing of 'Hook,' Wheeled Food and more Wednesday in Carson City

UPDATE: Due to weather concerns, the Pirate Pup Parade will be moved indoors outside of the Black Box Theater at the Brewery Arts Center. The film showing of "Hook" will be held in the BAC Performance Hall. Food Trucks will be outside in the parking lot.

Going into Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, we're looking at a slight chance of showers with highs in the upper 60s around the Carson City region. Have fun with Improv! We will use games, team-building exercises and basic improvisational acting structures. No experience necessary. Students will gain confidence on stage, employ public speaking skills, think quickly on their feet and create fun scenes out of thin air. They will put on a show for their families and friends during the last class.

Couple arrested in Carson City store parking lot for fighting over and shaking child

According to the police report, two teenagers were arrested in a store parking lot in the 1900 block of N. Carson Street for engaging in a physical altercation while a two-month-old infant between them.

A 19-year-old transient man and an 18-year-old transient woman were booked on child neglect/endangerment and domestic battery first after several concerned citizens called deputies to respond to a fight. The reporting parties stated there was a man and a woman physically fighting in the parking lot and pulling an infant from each other during the fight.

Author to present 'WEIRD Carson City' book Thursday at BAC

Meet the Author at the BAC is a free event Thursday, Sept. 2th, 5:15pm, open to the public. Sandie La Nae, author of “Weird Carson City” will talk about her book with PowerPoint presentation, and have copies available for purchase and to autograph.

The event is September 12th, 5:15pm at the ballroom at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 King Street, Carson City, Nev. The public is welcome, and beverages and wine benefiting the Brewery Arts will be available for purchase.

Ahoy Matey: Pirate-themed movie night, pet parade comes to Carson City Sept. 18

The next Carson City outdoor summer movie night is Sept. 18 including food trucks, a pet costume contest and the classic childhood pirate movie, “Hook.”

Head to the Brewery Art Center’s Minnesota Street Stage, where Wheeled Food Wednesday food trucks will be serving 5-8 p.m. and the pirate-themed pet costume contest will begin at 6:30 p.m. — followed by the free film showing at sunset.

Carson City woman arrested for attempting to steal $80,000 from her employer

A Carson City woman was arrested by Carson City deputies Thursday afternoon after allegedly attempting to steal $80,000 from her ex-employer, according to the arrest report.

Helen Donner Kelly was arrested after deputies were contacted by the accountant of the business who reported that they had received a call from the bank advising that Kelly had entered the bank that day and requested to close the current business account for the employer and have the funds transferred into her personal account.

Carson City woman arrested after allegedly strangling and pulling a gun on business partner

A 48-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 3100 block of Highway 50 E. Friday night for felony suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery first.

Shannon Rae Atkins was arrested after deputies received a report of a battery that occurred between Atkins and her business partner.

Carson City Parks Foundation receives Robert Z. Hawkins grant

Money begets money. And, that statement is true when it comes to the Carson City Parks & Recreation Foundation.

Recently, the Foundation was the recipient of a $20,000 matching grant from the Robert Z. Hawkins Foundation to continue to refresh the Bob Boldrick Theater lobby within the community center that started in February allowing then Chamber Chairman of the Board Bob Fredlund to present the Foundation with a check for $20,300.
