The Carson City Host Lions Club is sponsoring a fun Chalk Art Contest as part of the Nevada Day festivities on October 31st.

The contest is open to all Carson City residents, households, and businesses. Contestants will create chalk art masterpieces on their own driveways or sidewalks based on the Nevada Day theme of “My Favorite Moment in Nevada.”

Gov. Sisolak proclaims October Arts and Humanities Month in Nevada

Recognizing the cultural and economic impact the arts community makes in the Silver State, Gov. Steve Sisolak has proclaimed October to be Arts and Humanities Month in Nevada.

Arts and humanities strengthen the Nevada economy by generating $8.7 billion in total economic activity annually and by supporting more than 40,900 Nevada workers, according to data from the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency that works to make the arts accessible to all Nevadans. The Mile High Jazz Band Association presents a jazz-related drive-in movie, “High Society,” on Wednesday, August 19, and Thursday, August 20, as part of the 2020 Jazz & Beyond Festival.

It will be shown in the parking lot of the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King Street, in Carson City. Admission is free. Show time is available when calling for reservations, which are required for each vehicle and can be made by calling 775-883-4154.
