Artist Reception

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region for all to enjoy. New safety guidelines for the state of Nevada are in effect Friday, so make sure to bring a mask and practice social distancing to local events.

The Nevada Artists Association is excited to present the 2020 “Spirit of America” Show. This judged show represents a collection of 91 plus photographs, paintings, drawings, mixed media and 3D pieces by Nevada Artist Association Members and Non-Members from Northern Nevada.

Join Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery in Carson City as we host our first artist reception of the season on June 27 beginning at 11 a.m.

Katherine Case and her linoleum-cut prints, that celebrate the animals and landscapes that celebrate the Sierra Nevada.

Many different sizes and images will be available, many are hand painted.

Light appetizers and beverages will be served.

The entire show will be held in the front yard and the gallery will be open.

Please have your mask ready to attend the reception.

Prism Photographics announces a major change to the current art gallery to become Carson Valley’s premier art gallery. The new Art Gallery@Prism, located inside the old Bently Wool Warehouse in Minden, will be featuring up to 30 regional artists from communities of Northern Nevada to the Sierra Nevada.

Heading into the first Thursday in March and we're looking at continued sunshine with a high near 70. Happenings lined up include a Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting, auditions for the Carson City Follies show in July, trivia night at Bella Vita Bistro, a wood design workshop at Rustically Divine, an artist reception for Galen Brown and Emily Kray at Western Nevada College and a Muscle Powered afternoon hike. Partly sunny skies and cool temperatures are expected Thursday with a warmup in time for the weekend. Events ahead around the capital city include a meeting of the Board of Supervisors, a discussion on holiday stress and dementia offered by Carson Tahoe Expressions Memory Care, and an afternoon hike hosted by Muscle Powered. Also ahead, Carson City's GOP will host a discussion with several political leaders representing the capital city. There will be a 'Glorious Expanse' artist reception at WNC Gallery, plus library activities and more.

The Bristlecone Gallery is pleased to present the breathtaking exhibition “Glorious Expanse: Paintings of the Western Sky” by David McCamant. McCamant, a highly skilled oil painter, illumines the regional landscapes of our Western skies — compelling impressions on large-scale canvases.

Joyce Pike has studied under artists Sergei Bongart, Viona Anne Kendell and Hal Reed and has taught at Valley College in Los Angeles, the Art League of Los Angeles, the Scottsdale School of Art in Arizona, and has taught workshops throughout the world.

Heading into Thursday, August 15, 2019 we can expect hot weather to continue with high temperatures near 100. Among events for the day, there will be a wreath remembrance ceremony for fallen Carson City law enforcement officers at the sheriff's office, a Muscle Powered morning hike, art showings, and a meeting of the Status of Women in Nevada group at the Carson Nugget. As part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival, there will be an outdoor "Woodstock Remembered" concert at Comma Coffee and a music presentation, "All About that Bass" by Scot Marshall and Friends at the Nevada State Museum.

As we head into the middle of the month many of us haven't turned on the air conditioner because the weather outside has been comfortably, pleasantly air conditioned these past few weeks. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

Heading into Thursday, May 9, 2019 we're looking at a few showers and partly sunny skies around Carson City. The event lineup features the RSVP Spring Celebration and Carnival kickoff and family night at Mills Park, a Healthy Communities event in Silver Springs, CASA volunteer information hour workshop, an afternoon hike along the Ash Canyon trail, art demonstrations, live music and more. Good day Carson City and welcome to Wednesday, May 8, 2019. We're looking at another day of sunshine and afternoon highs in the low 70s. We have activities throughout the region today, including a history presentation in Dayton, a Holocaust memorial service at the Governor's Mansion, art classes, live jazz and more. We want to send a big birthday "shoutout" to our outdoor editor emeritus Don Quilici, who turns 85 today. Don and his wife, Elaine, remain active, maintain healthy walks and hikes around the region and have plans for yet another Alaska outback trip this summer. Happy Birthday Q!

Heading into Tuesday, May 7, 2019 we are looking at another picture perfect day for a morning or evening stroll with Carson City's own Muscle Powered and a bevy of events, including a chamber digital marketing workshop, Polka Dot Powerhouse Carson City Chapter meeting and open house, family movie and craft night at the Carson City Library, a filmmaking discussion followed by a showing of the classic "12 Angry Men" at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall and more.
