Carson City arrests: Intoxicated mother, daughter jailed in Christmas Eve domestic disturbance
Two women were arrested Saturday in the 1400 block of Kingsley Drive for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery and obstructing charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, a deputy responded and made contact with a man at a residence who said there was an argument involving his intoxicated 52-year-old mother-in-law in which she punched him in the face.
As the deputy was attempting to do the investigation, the man’s 35-year-old wife, also intoxicated, created a scene outside the residence, yelling and screaming at the deputy and at her husband, saying her mother didn’t do anything wrong, the arrest report states.
The officer asked the woman to go back inside the home as he was attempting to investigate what happened. The woman continued to be belligerent, calling the officer names, and being disruptive. Nearby neighbors began coming out of their homes to see what the disturbance was about and why the woman was yelling. The woman's mother and her husband both asked her to stop yelling, the arrest report states.
The deputy told the woman repeatedly to stop and warned she would be taken into custody for obstruction if she continued. The woman continued and was subsequently arrested for obstructing.
The officer spoke with the male victim who had not been drinking. He said his mother-in-law began flailing and swinging her arms wildly at him during an argument. The mother-in-law confirmed she had been in a physical confrontation with her son-in-law but said it wasn't a big deal. The man did not have any visible injuries and told the deputy he didn't want to press charges.
The officer advised he had to make an arrest due to his statements and that the mother-in-law confirmed she hit him. Bail for the 52-year-old woman, $3,137. Bail for her 35-year-old woman, $352.
