Carson City man jailed for suspicion of meth trafficking and sales

A 66-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of felony drug trafficking and sales after a traffic stop for speeding led to the recovery of 15.7 grams of methamphetamine, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team deputy said.

Greg David Gorsuch was arrested at 10:22 a.m. in the area of North Deer Run and Highway 50 East. He also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding, driving an unregistered vehicle and not having a license in possession.

According to the arrest report, a deputy paced the vehicle going 66 mph in a posted 55 mph zone. The deputy made contact with the man who said he did not have registration for the vehicle and didn’t have his license with him. He said he bought the vehicle and was attempting to register it at DMV the day prior.

The deputy conducted a records check and saw the man had a lengthy record in the system with drug history and possession of stolen property. Dispatch was unable to get a current return for the Arizona license plate. The man was asked to step out of the vehicle while the deputy conducted a records check of the VIN on the front driver’s side window. It was later learned the vehicle was last registered in 2012.

During the course of the investigation, two plastic baggies of methamphetamine were recovered in the man’s pockets. The first bag weighed 12.8 grams and the second, 2.9 grams. Deputies also located a silver scale with a white substance on it in a pocket vest on the passenger seat. Gorsuch was arrested for suspicion of trafficking and sales along with the misdemeanor charges. Bail: $41,423.
