Two accused of Carson City store thefts over weekend face additional charges
Additional warrant charges were made Monday following an arrest this weekend of two Carson City adults suspected of stealing merchandise from local stores, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Kristofer Jacob Schutten, 21, who was arrested Sunday, was booked Monday on a felony warrant alleging grand larceny. The warrant was issued Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Also booked on a Dec. 8 felony warrant alleging grand larceny was Ashleigh Baldwinson, 19.
The two were arrested Sunday for felony suspicion of grand larceny after they allegedly attempted to steal merchandise from Kohl’s. Schutten also faces a grand larceny charge for an alleged theft Saturday at Walmart.
In other bookings:
— A 20-year-old Carson City man, Damon Shane Kitson, was arrested Monday, 11:04 a.m. in the 1800 block of N. Edmonds for a Carson City Justice Court warrant alleging domestic battery with strangulation. The warrant was issued Nov. 21, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $15,000.
— A 22-year-old transient, Kayla Lynn Newman, was arrested Monday, 10:50 a.m. for a confirmed Western Regional Drug Court felony warrant for failure to appear. She was held without bail in lieu of a hearing.
— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested on Monday, 11:19 p.m. in the 100 block of Winnie Lane for alleged misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
According to the arrest report a Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a report of a man down in the street.
The man was sleeping on the sidewalk. The deputy asked the man if he was injured and the man replied that he was not injured and did not need paramedics to respond. According to the arrest report the arresting officer observed the man stand up and step off the curb into oncoming traffic.
He was advised to get out of the roadway, but stood in the street and refused to get on the sidewalk. Bail: $242.
— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 12:29 a.m. in the 1400 block of Como St. on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant out of Sparks Municipal Court.
— A 38-year-old transient was arrested Tuesday, 1:37 a.m. on the corner of North Carson Street and Winnie Lane for driving with suspended registration and a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant out of Storey County. Bail: $1,112.
