Fraud Alert: Nevada fire marshal says phony invoices being sent claiming fire inspections
The Nevada fire marshal's office is investigating a scam where a company representing themselves as “RMZ Fire Safety” out of Las Vegas is allegedly sending invoices to companies requiring payment for $413.11 for an “Annual State Required Fire Safety Equipment Inspection, Test and Certification.”
The state fire marshal licenses all fire protection companies in Nevada and has no record of this company applying for licenses here, according to The Nevada Department of Public Safety, State Fire Marshal Division.
Officials urge anyone authorizing contractor work on fire safety systems to ask for a state fire marshal license number. If you or someone you know has been invoiced by this company or has any other relevant information please contact Lt. Mike Dzyak, Investigation Chief for the Nevada State Fire Marshal Division at 775-684-7514.
