Tom Cruise at Lake Tahoe for two weeks filming Top Gun 2: Maverick
Tom Cruise is in South Lake Tahoe filming portions of a sequel to the 1986 movie "Top Gun," according to SFGate.com and TMZ.
According to an article in South Tahoe Now:
There is filming at the Washoe Meadows State Park in Meyers. Crews have been preparing the area for a movie that was to include low-flying helicopters on Friday, Dec. 7 and Monday, Dec. 10. There will be engineered non-toxic smoke involved and the helicopters will be based out of the Lake Tahoe Airport.
At the most recent Tahoe Chamber Blue Ribbon Awards, South Shore was mentioned as being a location in the sequel.
Articles by SFGate.com, and TMZ.com says Cruise was actively filming scenes in Tahoe, including a motorcycle scene.
“Cruise will reportedly be in and around South Lake Tahoe for two weeks filming the movie, which is a sequel to the 1986 hit ‘Top Gun,’” according to SFGate.com. “Val Kilmer will reprise his role as Tom "Iceman" Kazansky, but cast newcomers include Miles Teller (playing the son of Nick "Goose" Bradshaw), Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris and Jay Ellis.”
According to South Tahoe Now, “The memo circulated by a movie location company said the name of the movie is ‘Orpheum,’ but nothing can be found on movie sights about an upcoming movie by this name.”
