Annual Share Your Christmas Drive-By Food Drive happening this Friday

You can help the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and other nonprofits during KTVN 2 News annual Share Your Christmas Drive-By Food Drive happening this Friday at the Governor's Mansion in Carson City, the Carson Valley Inn, Minden and at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno.

Drop-off locations will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Although all non-perishable items are accepted, some suggestions include:

Canned Meats

Canned Fish

Peanut Butter

Macaroni & Cheese and Pasta Meals

Powdered Milk

Baby Formula, Baby Food

Complete Meals-Stews, Chili, Ravioli, Hearty Soups, etc.

Canned Fruits, Juice and Vegetables

Dry Cereal

Oatmeal

Rice

Pasta

You can also text the word "SHARE" and then a dollar amount to 50155 to donate directly to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

Share Your Christmas donations will help those less fortunate in our communities through the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, F.I.S.H., the Ron Wood Family Resource Center, Advocates to End Domestic Violence, and the Carson-Valley Food Community Food Closet.

In 2020 the community was able to collect more than 447,000 pounds of food and more than $300,000.

Today, relaxing under the stars means taking a break from our fast-paced modern culture. We will point out some common summer constellations and discuss events like the ongoing Perseids Meteor Shower and the upcoming total solar eclipse (which we will not be able to see from the park).

Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce auditions for Singin’ in the Rain, Jr. The show will run eight performances, January 12-21, 2017 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

A group of Corgis from Northern Nevada got together Sunday for their second annual Corgi Tahoe Takeover. There were about 30 Corgis and their owners attending. SUNDAY: Jazz and Beyond Music Festival

CARSON CITY, Nev. – Betsy DeVos, U.S. Secretary of Education informed Gov. Brian Sandoval Wednesday that Nevada’s Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) plan has been approved – the second state to receive federal approval. The approval is the culmination of 20 months of stakeholder engagement to craft a plan by Nevadans and for Nevadans.
