Christmas Fair at Carson City Senior Center happening this Wednesday and Thursday

UPDATE: 8AM: The fire at the Carson City landfill in East Carson City is out but is still smoldering and putting up some residual smoke, according to fire officials. Those passing by may see some smoke. Firefighters are continuing to mop up the fire and are monitoring it as of Sunday morning. No homes or structures were threatened. The cause remains under investigation.

UPDATE: 10:30PM: Water tinders remained on scene of the Dump Fire Saturday night, dousing the flaming trash with water. Other resources with the Carson City Fire Department remained staged in the area. Cause of the fire is under investigation.

A fire has been reported at the Carson City Landfill and emergency crews are on scene, where flames are reported visible inside the landfill, an area of about 200 feet by 200 feet in size.

UPDATE SUNDAY 9:40AM: The Arc Fire south of the Truckee River between the Patrick and USA Parkway exits has stopped growing and is 40 percent contained, Storey County Emergency Management Director Joe Curtis said Sunday morning.

Regional fire crews are on scene of a wild fire burning in Northwestern Lyon County near Patrick Saturday afternoon.

Cars and burgers were the draw Saturday at the Max Casino parking lot in Carson City, where law enforcement officers with the Nevada Department of Corrections fed hungry car enthusiasts at the second annual Cops and Burgers fundraiser for Special Olympics Nevada.

Due to extremely dry vegetation and very high fire danger, Eldorado National Forest Supervisor Laurence Crabtree announced that additional fire restrictions will go into effect that will prohibit recreational target shooting beginning Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018. These restrictions will be in effect through Oct. 9, 2018, but could be extended if necessary.

Last month the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office visited a senior citizen for a Caring Neighbors referral. Caring Neighbors is a new program administered by DCSO, where qualified and uniformed volunteers call and visit the seniors in our community.

The Carson Senators placed second to Manogue at Lakeridge on Tuesday in their third match of the year. Carson shot a 372 to Manogue's 357. Galena came in third with a 397. Damonte was fourth, Douglas fifth, and Wooster had a no score for lack of four scoring golfers.
