Carson City Supervisors accepting applications for planning commission seat

The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from persons interested in serving on the Carson City Planning Commission. There is one open position for a term that will expire January 2026.

The commission oversees all matters pertaining to Carson City’s planning and zoning, land use and growth management. Meetings are the last Wednesday of every month at 5 p.m. at the Community Center, Sierra Room. Applicants must be willing to serve approximately 12 to 16 hours a month.

The Board of Supervisors will interview and appoint the qualified person to the Commission. Applicants must be a Carson City registered voter to qualify.

All members will serve without compensation. The City’s Boards, Committees, and Commissions Policy and Procedures can be viewed online at www.carson.org/volunteer. All applications submitted to this office will be considered public information.

Applications will be accepted until Dec. 20, 2021. Interviews for this volunteer position are tentatively planned to be held at the regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022.

UPDATE 11:20AM From Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong: Juvenile Sean Ascuaga of Reno was located at Marlette Dam. He was found safe and unharmed, but will be checked by paramedics before transporting back to Carson City to family members.

Carson City Fire Department was called Tuesday morning to the 900 block of Colorado Street for a report of a severed residential gas line.

After a tough 10-4 loss to El Paso, the Aces looked to rebound in a hurry Saturday, July 15th in Greater Nevada Field. With a small sample size of outings under their belts, starting pitchers Matt Koch (Reno) and Kyle Lloyd (El Paso) took the mound hoping to break the 1-1 tie in the four-game series.

Over the Hill Club Donates $500 to Food Pantry in Silver Springs

SILVER SPRINGS, Nev. — For the third year in a row, the Over the Hill Motorcycle Club has made a donation to the Silver Stage Food Pantry.

UPDATE: 8:24PM: Dispatch has reported that Douglas County rescue crews have located the victim of the motorcycle accident near Sunrise Pass Road in Northeastern Douglas County and are currently on scene. Carson City responders have been recalled.

Emergency personnel from Carson City are responding to a report of a motorcycle accident near Sunrise Pass Road around the Carson City and Douglas County line, 9-1-1 dispatch has reported.

Emergency crews are on scene of a multi-vehicle accident with injuries at South Roop Street and Fairview Drive in South Carson City.

Families and residents were treated to an open house Saturday hosted by the Carson City Public Works Department at its corporate yard off Butti Way.
