Eyes on Carson City: Public Works Open House
Families and residents were treated to an open house Saturday hosted by the Carson City Public Works Department at its corporate yard off Butti Way.
Several pieces of heavy equipment — from road graders to bulldozers, earth movers and backhoes — were available for people to climb up into and explore.
The event was held as a way to introduce the Carson City community to the workers who help to keep the Nevada state capital running.
Public Works staff were also on hand to answers questions and talk about what they do to for the city: water and sewer services, street repair and maintenance, utility billing, the Jump Around Carson (JAC) bus system, landfill, city vehicle fleet maintenance, flood mitigation and storm drain services.
