Autumn snow blankets Carson City
A layer of fresh, powdery snow fell in the Carson City area overnight into Sunday, blanketing roads and bringing with it frosty early morning temperatures that dipped into the twenties, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.
About three inches were measured this morning in East Carson City near Empire Ranch.
A winter weather advisory remains in effect for the Carson City area until 10 a.m., the NWS reports.
High today is forecast to be in the low forties with cloud cover burning off to reveal partly sunny skies through the remainder of daylight hours.
Road conditions are expected to be slick and icy through the morning hours.
Snow is possible again tonight and into Monday morning with chances ranging from 20 to 50 percent.
The winter storm front is expected to move out of the area Monday, making way for mostly sunny skies through Wednesday. Then a chance of snow returns again Wednesday night as overnight lows dip into the low twenties, the NWS reports.
High temperatures will continue to be in the forties through mid-week and overnight lows are forecast to become frigid by Tuesday night, dropping to around 15 degrees, the NWS reports.
