NHP identifies victim in fatal Nov. 16 crash on Mount Rose Highway

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a Reno resident involved in a fatal crash that happened on Tuesday, Nov. 16 on State Route-431, Mount Rose Highway.

Arthur Wagner, 72, died of injuries at the scene of the crash, according to NHP. On Nov. 16, Troopers with the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division, responded to an injury crash on SR-431 at Washoe County Mile Marker 13 in Reno at approximately 2:20 p.m.

Preliminary investigation shows that a white 2020 Ford Explorer was traveling westbound on SR-431 in the area of Washoe County Mile Marker 13. A white 1999 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Arthur Wagner, was traveling eastbound on SR-431 in the area of Washoe County Mile Marker 13. For unknown reasons, the Explorer drove left of center. The front left of the Explorer struck the front left of the Cherokee.

This crash is being investigated by the Highway Patrol Division’s Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) - Case No. 211101157.

UPDATE 11:35AM: The semi-truck fire has been fully extinguished. Nevada Highway Patrol will be the investigating agency. No injuries were reported. Northbound I-580 at North Carson Street is now open.

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and Nevada Highway Patrol have responded Wednesday morning to a semi truck on fire in the northbound lane at I-580 near Lakeview Hill, according to dispatch.

CARSON CITY — Governor Brian Sandoval announced Wednesday the hiring of Kathryn Reynolds as General Counsel, which has been effective as of August 28, 2017.

Reynolds will fill the vacancy created with the departure of Daniel Stewart in early August. She will serve as Counsel to the Governor and act as a primary liaison between the Governor’s office and several cabinet agencies, boards and commissions.
