Carson City weekend arrests: Three jailed in separate domestic battery incidents

A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Monday morning for felony suspicion of preventing a victim from calling 911 and misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Fabian Garcia Andrade was taken into custody at 12:40 a.m. in the 2900 block of Gillis Way. According to the arrest report, the suspect allegedly pushed the victim after she had barricaded herself in a bedroom for protection.

The man then allegedly grabbed her wrists as she attempted to call for help. The victim had numerous bruises on her wrists that were not there before from a previous verbal domestic call Sunday to the residence, the arrest report states.

Inside the man’s pocket was a crumpled contact number for the Carson City Sheriff’s Office that was given to the victim from the previous call. Bail: $8,137.

— A 29-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 1:59 p.m. in the 400 block of East Park Street for misdemeanor suspicion of second offense domestic battery. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area regarding a domestic situation.

Deputies arrived and found a woman screaming from a balcony. Paramedics arrived and were treating the male victim who was bleeding from the head.

The male victim told deputies the two got into an argument. He said the woman retrieved a frying pan and began swinging it, hitting him on the head with the frying pan. When the man saw that he was bleeding he called 911. He advised that he ripped the woman’s shirt as he was trying to get her away from him, the arrest report states.

Deputies interviewed the woman who claimed the man had “head-butted” her in the face, splitting her lip. Deputies did not observe blood on the woman’s face or mouth and did not see a split lip, according to the arrest report. She later told deputies she had bit her lip instead of being “head-butted” in the face as she previously stated.

The woman said the two were fighting because the night before he threw a pork chop at her and she wasn’t going to let him do that to her, the arrest report states. Bail: $5,000.

— A 26-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 9:53 p.m. in the 2800 block of South Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, deputies responded to a motel regarding a domestic incident.

The victim stated he and his ex-girlfriend had been drinking and arguing and that she slapped and punched him in the face, the arrest report states. A deputy observed a small amount of red discoloration to the left side of the face and left ear.

The woman became uncooperative with deputies and attempted to walk away after being told twice she was not free to leave. She told deputies she had only “open hand slapped” the man in the face. Bail: $3,137.

— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 9:13 p.m. in the 1600 block of Medical Parkway for a temporary protection order violation. Bail: $3,137.

— A 29-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 11:44 a.m. in the 2200 block of California Street for a misdemeanor bench warrant out of Reno Township Court. Bail: $1,030.

— A 42-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 11:06 a.m. in the 1600 block of Wendy Lane for misdemeanor suspicion of embezzlement. According to the arrest report, the man allegedly stole $400 from his place of work in the 2600 block of Highway 50 East where he was a cashier. The suspect told the deputy he gambled the money away. Bail: $1,137.

— A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 12:15 a.m. in the area of Highway 50 and Brown Street for misdemeanor suspicion of obstructing and resisting arrest, reckless driving, driving without a license in possession and no proof of insurance.

According to the arrest report, the man was stopped for reckless driving. The driver left a driveway on Highway 50 without lights and accelerated at a high rate of speed, squealing his tires and driving recklessly.

The man didn’t have a driver’s license on him and could not provide proof of insurance. He smelled of alcohol and submitted to field sobriety tests in which he passed. He became argumentative when asked to submit to a preliminary breath test, telling the deputy, “I ain’t no punk, I’m a convict,” the arrest report states.

The man then began to gesture and walk away. The officer attempted to stop him and the man reflexed and began resisting. He was handcuffed and put into a patrol car. Inside, he began violently kicking his feet in an attempt to break the rear window and cause damage to the patrol car. He told the deputy: “take your belt off, I’ll kick your ass,” the arrest report states. Bail: $1,843.

— A 23-year-old Carson City man, Jorge Torres-Ramirez, was arrested Saturday, 6:36 p.m. in the area of North Stewart East of Park Street for felony suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

During a traffic stop, the man told deputies he had a firearm in the car that belonged to a friend. He could not identify the friend by a real name. Deputies located a .38 Smith and Wesson loaded with five bullets. A check through his criminal history showed he was a convicted felon. Bail: $20,000.

— A 22-year-old transient, Katelynn Colleen Cochran, was arrested Saturday, 9:53 a.m. for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license. The woman consented to a search of her purse where officers located a package of Suboxone, and Alprazam, a small amount of marijuana, a plastic straw and two pipes. Bail: $4,259.

— A 35-year-old Mound House man was arrested Saturday, 3:56 p.m. in the area of North Edmonds Drive and Brown Street for misdemeanor violation of a temporary protection order. Bail: $3,000.

— A 27-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 5:42 a.m. in the area of Airport Road and College Parkway for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area for a report of an accident. The vehicle the woman was driving had hit a tree. The woman agreed to field sobriety tests and showed multiple signs of impairment. She consented to a preliminary breath test with a result of .164. Bail: $1,137.

UPDATE THURSDAY: The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the two people who died Wednesday morning following the two vehicle crash on I-580 in Carson City. They are Alejandra Hernandez Valtierra, 36, and Viola Santoyo Huizar, 48, both of Carson City.

UPDATE 12:42PM: Southbound I-580 in Carson City was opened as of around 11 a.m., said a Nevada State Police spokeswoman, who provided more details of the fatal crash that happened early Wednesday morning.

Both the driver of a car and a truck involved in the crash died. Their names have not been released pending notification of family members. The car, which was going the wrong way — northbound in the southbound lane — struck the truck and caught on fire, according to a NSP preliminary investigation thus far. The vehicle makes are unknown at this time.

Dayton Elementary School in Lyon County was honored Wednesday along 13 other schools including Carson High in Carson City as a Nevada Purple Star School.

Schools receiving the designation have committed to supporting the educational and social-emotional needs of military-connected children and their families.
