Carson City arrests: Woman jailed for attempting to steal $600 in merchandise from Walmart
A 35-year old Carson City woman was arrested Monday afternoon for misdemeanor suspicion of petit larceny and violation of alternative sentencing conditions after attempting to steal merchandise from Walmart, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
The woman was taken into custody in the 3200 block of Market Street at 5:35 p.m. According to the arrest report, the suspect attempted to steal $626.96 worth of merchandise from Walmart, leaving the store with a shopping cart full of items without paying.
She was detained by Walmart Loss Prevention on the west side of Retail Drive and taken back to the store where she was placed under arrest by Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies. Bail: $3,352.
In other arrests:
— An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 2:05 p.m. in the area of Roop and Proctor Street for a misdemeanor criminal contempt warrant issued Aug. 30, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
— A 40-year-old transient was arrested Saturday 6:53 a.m. in the 100 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of trespassing and disorderly conduct. According to the arrest report, the man was waving around an object, that appeared to be a gun, inside a casino.
Deputies located the man, found that he was holding a cell phone and attached under his shirt, what looked like a holster. The man was detained. Several knives were found on his person along with two tactical flashlights. One of the lights was rigged with a wire wrapped around the bottom, near the handle, on its side which looked like the barrel of a gun.
He was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak. He stated he went into the casino to speak to the management about being allowed back in. He told the deputy he became upset and advised he was swinging the flashlight with the wire walking around the casino while holding a container of tea in his other hand.
He stated he did not take out any of his knives while in the casino. Casino management advised the man had been trespassed several years ago for defrauding an innkeeper in 2011. Bail: $484.
