Carson City Nevada Triad presents flu prevention workshop, raffles off electric lift chair
Carson City Nevada Triad, a collaboration between the Carson City Sheriff, Fire Department and Senior Center, will present a flu prevention workshop at the Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive, on Friday, Sept. 8 at 11:45 a.m.
Carson City Health and Human Services, along with Hermie the Germie, the HHS mascot, will present information on flu, pneumonia and shingles preventions and vaccinations. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
Action Home Furnishings in the Carson Mall has donated a Home Elegance Power Lift chair valued at $330 that will be raffled off at the conclusion of the event. Tickets will be distributed upon entry and participants must be present to win.
Patience Woodill, store manager for Action Home Furnishings, said the chair takes the user from a seated to a standing position.
“Lift chairs are so important because so many of our seniors have difficulty standing up,” she said. “I’m hoping this will garner support from other businesses to install lift chairs to help our vulnerable seniors get out and socialize.”
Woodill said she supports the Triad partnership between the sheriff’s and fire departments and the Senior Center.
“We’re a family business,” she said. “It’s important to everyone to support our community and especially our seniors.”
