National Wreaths Across America Day comes to Carson City's Lone Mountain Cemetery

Wreath's Across America is coming to Carson City's Lone Mountain Cemetery thanks to the Carson City Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol which is organizing the event locally. Each December, the national non-profit organization coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as more than 1,200 locations across the U.S., at sea and abroad.
Wreath's Across America organizers ask volunteers who place a wreath on a veteran's grave to say that veteran's name aloud and take a moment to thank them for their service.
Asking the public to purchase wreaths and to volunteer, organizers hope to cover as many veterans graves as possible.
The Carson City event is Dec. 16 beginning at 9 a.m.
The goal is to provide 1,500 wreaths using the combined effort of the local community and businesses. Visit this page to make a donation, volunteer, or to find more information about the upcoming ceremony.
Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City will be recognized for the first time by Wreaths Across America. The graves of more than 1,000 veterans are within, from Civil War soldiers to serviceman and women of current times.
The wreath laying ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. and includes a guest speaker from the Nevada National Guard as well as the dedication of a “memory tree.”
Carson City resident and Nevada National Guard's Joint Operations Center Command Sgt. Major Paul Kinsey will be the featured speaker.
Wreaths Across America partners with like-minded organizations that share common missions and goals to build awareness for the service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform, and that of their families.
Through collaborative outreach on both the local and national levels, Wreaths Across America and its Partners are expanding the network of supporters, volunteers and donors while helping other organizations do the same.
