WNC Student Veterans Club hosts spaghetti feed fundraiser and raffle in Carson City
The Western Nevada College Student Veterans Club hosted a spaghetti feed fundraiser Saturday evening at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Carson City.
Community members arrived hungry and eager to purchase dinner tickets with proceeds benefiting the WNC Student Veterans Club. A raffle was held with items including a locally hand-made leather wallet, various gift cards, and other items. Proceeds from the raffle will be used to support the club and local student veterans. “The focus of the club and The Veterans Resource Center is to assist veterans and their dependents with whatever they need,” said Mathew Hodges, the WNC Student Veterans Club President.
The club works to advance the quality of life and education for student veterans. According to their mission statement, “We have organized because we understand that a singular voice can be lost in the fray, but with our voices united we have the power to elicit change.” The club also works to foster the spirit of camaraderie between student veterans and the community.
Spaghetti noodles and sauce were donated by Capital City Loans, and an impressive spread of desserts was provided by the Fleet Reserve Association, Women’s Auxiliary.
