Sheriff: Arrests down in Carson City over busy Street Vibrations weekend

Even with beefed up patrols in Carson City this weekend for the Street Vibrations motorcycle rally, riders were not involved in any significant arrests during its peak Friday, Saturday and early Sunday, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

“The crowds were happy, they were here for the events and nobody was here to cause a problem,” said Furlong. ”We had extraordinary patrol coverage everywhere this weekend and we were well prepared for any incident to come up and it never did.”

There was a fight that did break out briefly near the Harley-Davidson motorcycle gathering, but it was cleared by the time officers arrived and there were no arrests, said Furlong.

“There was cooperation among businesses to address parking and traffic issues. What we saw was everyone working well with each other,” he said.

According to Carson City Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Humphrey, the Special Operations Unit made 94 traffic stops, issued 21 citations and gave 73 traffic warnings. There was one felony and three misdemeanor arrests Friday and Saturday made by the special patrol unit, said Humphrey. Also noteworthy: there were 100 business checks, 14 pedestrian stops and six K9 searches.

Here are this weekend’s sheriff’s office calls Friday through early Sunday. Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

— Two Sparks women were arrested early Sunday in the area of Robinson and Pratt streets on misdemeanor battery charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The women were at a club in the 200 block of Winnie Lane when they allegedly assaulted another woman after an argument about lights in the establishment being turned on and off, the arrest report states. The 21-year-old suspect allegedly threw the first punches while the 22-year-old was seen using one of her shoes to beat on the victim.

The victim suffered a 3 to 4 inch laceration to her left leg and a 3-inch red mark on her forehead. The woman said she fell to the ground and covered up her face as she was being beaten.

Both were arrested at 2:56 a.m. The 22-year-old woman, who is on Alternative Sentencing with a “no alcohol” clause, submitted to a preliminary breath test with a .169. She faces charges of battery and violation of pretrial conditions. Bail: $4,137. The 21-year-old blew a .000 on a preliminary breath test. She faces a charge of battery. Bail: $1,137.

— A 41-year-old Grass Valley, Calif., man was arrested Sunday, 2:29 a.m. on seven misdemeanor charges including DUI, speeding and failure to maintain a single lane. According to the arrest report, officers traveling eastbound on Highway 50 saw a silver Nissan car doing 60 mph in a posted 45 mph zone.

The vehicle failed to maintain its lane of travel and was stopped at Highway 50 and College Parkway, the arrest report states. Officers met with the driver and noticed the odor of alcohol and an open can of Pabst Blue Ribbon in the middle vehicle console. He was asked for his license, registration and insurance. He could not provided insurance information. He submitted to four field sobriety tests and failed all four, the report states.

During an inventory of the vehicle officers found two glass pipes with marijuana residue and a large green container with marijuana. He was taken to jail and refused all testing. A search warrant was served and a blood draw was taken. Bail: $4,049.

— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 8:46 p.m. in the area of Saliman and Robinson streets on misdemeanor charges of driving with a suspended license and a warrant for violation of a suspended sentence. The man was stopped when officers observed a headlight wasn’t working. The man told officers he didn’t have a license on him. A records check showed he had a confirmed warrant for his arrest, violations of conditions. Bail: $3,000.

— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 10:14 p.m. in the 500 block of Jeanell Drive on misdemeanor charges of hit and run causing property damage and a warrant for criminal contempt issued Dec. 11, 2013.

According to the arrest report, the man was driving and collided with a fence surrounding the Carson City Airport causing major damage to the fence, poles and to his vehicle.
He left his vehicle and was contacted via telephone where he agreed to meet with officers at his home address. The man emitted an odor of alcohol and was advised of his Miranda rights, admitting to drinking and hitting a curb. He told officers he didn’t know he hit the fence. Bail: $1,137.

— A 32-year-old Dayton man, Bryan Allen Pace, was arrested Saturday, 6:07 p.m. in the 3900 block of Pheasant Drive on a felony drug charge and three misdemeanors. A 34-year-old woman with him, was also arrested on three misdemeanor charges: possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and driving without a driver’s license.

According to the arrest report, officers stopped the vehicle for failure to stop at the stop line. The female driver told officers she didn’t have a driver’s license, only a Nevada ID card.
Officers learned the passenger, Pace, had two warrants for his arrest. He taken into custody. Officers did a K9 search of on the vehicle that came up with a positive alert for drugs. Officers found marijuana, paraphernalia and a broken pipe with methamphetamine.

Pace faces the following charges: Felony possession of a controlled substance, meth, and misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, and 2 failure to appear warrants out, one out of Carson City Justice Court and the other out of East Fork Township. Bail: $1,992. The 34-year-old woman was booked on three misdemeanor charges. Bail: $2,066.

— A 33-year-old transient, Michael Anthony Jacobs, was arrested Saturday, 12:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of East William Street on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance, gross misdemeanor possession of prescription medication without a prescription and a misdemeanor warrant charge for domestic battery.

According to the arrest report, officers found the drugs during a subject stop in the area of Walgreens. They learned of the confirmed warrant and arrested him. In a search they found a piece of foil with a rock of methamphetamine in his right coin pocket and an Oxycodone in his right pants pocket. Bail: $8,000.

— A 45-year-old Gardnerville man turned himself into jail Saturday, 3:20 p.m. on a misdemeanor warrant charge, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Sept. 3, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 8:52 a.m. in the 2600 block of Concord Drive on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a temporary protection order. The warrant was issued Sept. 25, 2014. Bail: $3,000.

— A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 7:37 p.m. in the 400 block of North Carson Street on two warrants for failure to appear. One was issued May 27, 2014 out of Sparks Municipal Court and the other, March 30, 2014 out of Reno Township. Bail: $2,659.

— A 29-year-old transient, Tarron Evans, was arrested Saturday, 6:24 p.m. in the 500 block of North Carson Street on a felony warrant on a grand larceny charge issued out of Sparks. Bail: $5,000.

— A 46-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Saturday, 2:22 p.m. on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Sept. 19, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 20-year-old Carson City man, Gavin Earl Knight, was arrested Saturday, 11:05 a.m. in the area of Mayflower and East Nye streets on a felony warrant charge for drug possession. The warrant was issued Sept. 23, 2014 out of First Judicial Court in Carson City. A license plate check on the vehicle came back with a felony warrant, possession of a controlled substance, for the owner of the car. Knight was also driving without a valid driver’s license. No bail hold until hearing.

— A 24-year-old transient was arrested Saturday, 4:50 a.m. in the 1100 block of South Carson Street on a misdemeanor charge violation of terms set in his probation. Bail: $3,000.

— A 30-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 5:11 p.m. in the 1300 block of Green Drive on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge. According to the arrest report, two sisters were arguing. The woman who was arrested allegedly grabbed her 18-year-old sister’s hair and drug her from her car to the house. The 18-year-old allegedly took the car without permission. Bail: $3,137.

— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 9:39 p.m. in the area of Fifth and Ruth streets on a misdemeanor charge of being an ex-felon failing to register. The man was stopped by a Special Enforcement Team officer who observed him riding a bicycle and text messaging on a smart phone. Officers learned he was living at a Conestoga Drive address and had not registered there as an ex-felon. Bail: $242.

— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 8:42 a.m. in the 3100 block of Melanie Lane on a misdemeanor warrant charge for battery issued Sept. 19, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 23-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 8:58 a.m. in the 200 block of Sutro Terrace on a misdemeanor warrant charge of aviation of a suspended sentence. The warrant was issued July 8, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail; $1,000.

— A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sept. 20, 6:31 p.m. in the area of Woodside and Sharon streets on a misdemeanor charge of driving with a suspended license. Bail: $637.

— A 25-year-old Carson City woman turned herself in Friday, 2:01 p.m on a gross misdemeanor warrant charging her with child neglect and endangerment. Bail: $2,500.
