Carson City School Board to discuss test procedures, security plan, parent dashboard and more

The Carson City School Board of Trustees meets Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 East William Street. The board will take up a number of items, including possible adoption of test procedures and a security plan, a demonstration of the district's parent dashboard and more.
Due to the Governor’s mandated steps to protect against the spread of the coronavirus, the Board of Trustees of the Carson City School District restricts the public to remote participation in this meeting. Members of the public who wish to attend the meeting remotely may do so by going to the Carson City School District website www.carsoncityschools.com which provides the options for virtual and telephonic participation.
Public Comment will be accepted in person, through telephonic participation or through virtual participation via email; publiccomment@carson.k12.nv.us. Comments may be made by members of the public on any matter within the authority of this Board. Please note that public comment will be taken on items marked “for possible action” before action is taken on such items, and members of the public are encouraged to comment on such items at the time they are being considered.
Although members of the Board may respond to questions and to discuss issues raised during Public Comment, no action may be taken on such a matter until the matter is placed on an agenda for action at a meeting of the Board. In making Public comments, speakers are asked to identify themselves for the record.
Speakers are further asked to refrain from speaking over each other if participating by telephone. Speakers are asked to limit their comments to no more than three (3) minutes, whether in writing or oral, and to not simply repeat comments made by others.
Among the agenda items Tuesday, trustees will:
— Hear a presentation to introduce and demonstrate the district's parent dashboard. This dashboard provides Information for parents/guardians on remote learning tools and resources, and other parent information for the Carson City School District. This is a discussion item only.
— Vote on adoption of Carson City School District's test procedures and security plan for the 2020-2021 School Year, as required by NRS 390.275, for possible action.
— Hear a presentation and taken possible action on the adoption of a districtwide Restorative Discipline Plan for the 2020-2021 school year as required by NRS 392.466.
— Hold discussion on possible school bond and installment purchase agreement. This is for refunding to generate an approximate savings of $350,000 to the General Fund. This is a discussion item only.
