Senator Square: Busy week ahead with auditions, club meetings and basketball fundraiser
And so we begin week five of this year at Carson High School. The time passes so quickly. All sports teams are on a roll, and activities and clubs are full speed ahead as well.
Pie an Administrator
During lunch time on Sept. 17, you could win the opportunity to pie an administrator. All you have to do is buy a raffle ticket from a Link Leader before or after school or at any break. Tickets are $1 a piece or 6 for $5. If you win, you will have your choice to pie one of the following administrators: Mr. Rodina, Mr. Chambers or our new principal Ms. Fuson. There will be three winners chosen and each will get to pie one of the three administrators who have volunteered. Tickets can be purchased today from a Link Crew leader through the 17th. Faculty members are more than welcome to buy tickets as well.
DRIVE ONE 4UR SCHOOL
:
Carson High School boys’ basketball fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the North Parking Lot of CHS. Test drive a brand new Ford vehicle.
For each test drive, the basketball team will receive a $20 donation to their program from Ford Motor Company, up to 300 test drives. There can be only one driver per household and the driver must be 18 years or older. Get a parent, guardian, grandparent, aunt or uncle or family friend to come out and drive a new Ford at CHS. UNR CABN Field Day
Seniors who are interested in attending UNR's College of Agriculture, Biotechnology, and Natural Resources (CABNR) are invited to a Field Day on Saturday, Sept. 20. Students will have a chance to explore the academic and career opportunities offered at CABNR and meet with the Dean, academic faculty, and current students. Please see Mrs. Chambers in the Guidance Office for more information. You must RSVP for this event.
LIP Sync Auditions
Lip Sync auditions will be held on Monday, Sept. 29 in the upstairs cafeteria starting a 2 p.m. Make sure you get your groups together beforehand, but make sure that you don't have any more than six people per group. Your acts can be up to four minutes long and don't forget to bring a copy of your music to auditions. Make sure your group's routine is poppin' because we are only going to be accepting 10-12 groups this year. We look forward to seeing what you guys have to offer this year! If you have questions, see Ms. Britt in the leadership room.

Senior Spotlight
This week’s Senior in the Spotlight is Alecia Ouellette. She carries a weighted GPA of 4.1395, and is currently taking AP Senior Literature, Veterinary Science III, Honors American Government, Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus, and Human Anatomy. Passionate about all things equine, Alecia is currently the Vice-President for her 4-H Club where she competes in barrel racing and other Gymkhana events. She also serves as Sentinel for the Capital FFA Team.
Over the summer, that same FFA team won 2nd overall at the state competition, and Alecia took 6th in Horse Judging. Last but not least, she is currently a member of Carson High School’s Health Occupations Students of America.
With plans to become an Equine Veterinarian, Alecia would like to attend either Feather River College to participate in their Equine Studies Program, or UNR where she would major in Veterinary Science. Carson High School is proud of the contributions Alecia has made to her school and community.
