Carson City man jailed, admits to entering and stealing from home while looking for lost dog

A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday at an Adams Street residence for suspicion of residential burglary and a misdemeanor warrant, a sheriff’s deputy said.

Michael Menke Jr. was arrested at 6:57 p.m. in the 500 block of East Adams Street. He also had a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant for his arrest that was issued July 31, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to perform a follow up investigation on a residential burglary case. Deputies made contact with Menke Jr. and his wife. Deputies checked them for warrants, with the man having a confirmed warrant out of Carson City Justice Court. He was arrested on the warrant and was read his Miranda rights.

He stated that on Sept. 5 or Sept. 6 he and his wife went into the backyard of a North Roop Street residence.

He stated their dog ran into the backyard and they went into the backyard to try to catch it. He stated he noticed the back door was opened. He said he entered the home through the door and saw two hover boards. He stated he took the two hover boards and left the residence.

He stated that his wife left the area prior to him entering the residence. He stated the hover boards were in the rafters in his garage. A deputy was able to recover the hover boards in the location the man provided. He was arrested for suspicion of residential burglary and the warrant. Bail: $23,000.

In other arrests:
— A 26-year-old Reno man was arrested Sunday, 4:15 p.m. in the 2700 block of North Carson Street for gross misdemeanor indecent or obscene exposure.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatch to a business in the 2700 block of North Carson Street in reference to a man who was in the back seat of a vehicle, exposing himself.

Deputies arrived and located the vehicle and saw a naked man inside, passed out and spread across the back seat exposing himself to anyone that would be in the area.

Deputies made contact with the man and yelled for him to wake up. The man attempt to exit the vehicle. He was told to stay in the vehicle and put his clothes back on. The deputy could smell and odor of alcohol. The man provided a preliminary breath test of .181.

Dispatch advised the man had been in a fast food restaurant earlier and was reportedly passed out at a table. He was arrested for indecent exposure, a gross misdemeanor. Bail: $2,500.

— A 38-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 1:54 p.m. in the area of Fifth Street and Carson Meadows for a misdemeanor domestic battery warrant issued Aug. 21, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— Two people were arrested Sunday for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Charles Vickers, 21, and April Faavae, 34, were taken into custody in the 2400 block of East Nye Lane.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area to investigate drug use going on inside a vehicle. A reporting party advised that people were “smoking meth” inside the vehicle.

Officers observed the vehicle traveling on East Nye Lane, with the vehicle turning into a driveway and the driver attempting to exit. The officer walked over to the vehicle and detained both to investigate.

The registered owner of the vehicle, the male suspect’s mother, agreed to allow officers to search the vehicle. Inside was a clear plastic bag in the front seat area that contained suspected methamphetamine, and a purse with a meth pipe. Bail: $3,500 each.

— A 32-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Monday in the 300 block of South Carson Meadows for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called at around 4 a.m. to the area for a report of a domestic battery. Deputies had been at the address earlier in the evening for a similar circumstance.

Deputies arrived on scene and approached an apartment and could hear a female screaming from inside the apartment and a male voice who was telling the woman she was acting crazy, the arrest report states.

Deputies did a knock on the residence with the female suspect opening the door. She was uncooperative with officers. The man exited the apartment without issue. He had noticeable injuries to his face and arm and his mouth, nose and arm were bloodied, the arrest report states.

The woman advised nothing was wrong and said the screaming was from the television. The victim gave several different reasons for how he received his injuries. He would not outright say what happened. Blood was located on the suspect’s hands, consistent with the man’s injuries. The woman was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.

— A 29-year-old Carson City man, Floyd William Ward, was arrested early Monday in the area of Carson and Bath streets for an outside agency warrant issued Sept. 6, 2018 out of Sacramento, Calif., authorities.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the area for a subject claiming he was being followed. Upon arrival, deputies made content with Warn. A warrant check was made through the Sacramento Police Department with a $250,000 bail. He was arrested for the warrant and is awaiting for extradition.
