Carson City emergency crews respond to pedestrian accident at Robinson near Carson Street

UPDATE 2:04PM: A female pedestrian struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon on Robinson Street suffered minor injuries, according to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called this afternoon to a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on East Robinson near Carson Street. A CareFlight air ambulance was called and then canceled.

The woman was hit near the crosswalk, according to a sheriff's deputy who arrived on scene. The crash was reported at 1:35 p.m. Traffic was being diverted around the accident scene. East bound Carson Street from Plaza Street, which was closed was re-opened at 2:15 p.m.

A weather system that gave the Carson City region a good rain soaking and brought feet of snow to the Sierra has ended with sunny skies in the forecast through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The wet weather has passed, at least for a few days. If you didn’t want to brave the downpour to drop-off a frozen turkey Thursday, then you are in luck. Another frozen turkey drive runs all day at the Max Casino in Carson City or the Sanchez Meat Co. in Minden. The Carson High Craft Show, a long-time locals’ favorite, begins this evening at 5 p.m.

Gusty winds may have contributed to a widespread power outage Wednesday night affecting NV energy customers in East Carson City.

With valley gusts expected to top 70 mph today, the National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning and Red Flag Warning for the Sierra Front including Reno, Carson City, Carson Valley and Lyon County.
