Virginia City to celebrate 2021 International Camel and Ostrich Races this Sept. 10-12
The much-anticipated International Camel & Ostrich Races return to historic Virginia City this Sept. 10-12, 2021 for the 62nd annual event. Tickets are available online for the four shows taking place throughout the weekend.
This wild, hilarious and family-fun event includes the following races:
Friday, Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. for Hot Camel Nights – a special Friday evening performance with $10 tickets available for purchase at the Visitors Center; other ticketing options available online
Saturday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. for Honoring First Responders – A special Patriot Day Tribute recognizing the 20 year anniversary since Sept. 11 includes a military and first responder flyover, first responder tribute and ringing of the bell by the Storey County Fire Protection District, Color Guard and National Anthem; ticket holders are encouraged to be in their seats by 9:30 a.m. to not miss the tribute
Saturday, Sept. 11 between 12 – 1 p.m. Camel Hump to C Street – An opportunity for the camels to walk C Street and for visitors to meet the stars of the show
Saturday, Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. – Afternoon races
Sunday, Sept. 12 at 12 p.m. for Dolan Family Day – First 100 kids receive a free camel ride before the show valued at $10
“We’re glad to be able to say we’re back for this year,” said Deny Dotson, director of tourism for the Virginia City Tourism Commission. “Special events like this are an important part of our town’s economy, and we’re looking forward to bringing some levity and fun to our attendees — something we can all use at this time.”
New this year, the VIP section has tables for purchase along with bleacher seating, and air conditioning to keep attendees cool. VIP tickets include one meal at any vendor and two drinks per person. Front Row and Interior tables can be reserved, seating up to six people per table for just $390. VIP tickets are nearly sold out for all shows.
Tickets range from $15 for general admission ($12 for kids and seniors) to $390 for VIP tables seating six. Premium shaded seats are $25 per ticket and VIP bleacher seats are $50 per ticket.
