NHP identifies Reno man who died in Spanish Springs motorcycle crash
The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a 28-year-old Reno man who was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday in Spanish Springs.
The motorcycle rider, Gabriel Vogel, was ejected and died at the scene, according to NHP. The crash was reported at around 8:22 p.m. Saturday, August 24. SR-445 and Campo Rico Lane was closed for an extended period of time for the investigation and reopened at 2:06 a.m. Sunday.
The preliminary investigation shows that a white 1998 Toyota 4Runner was traveling southbound on SR-445 behind a white 2008 Chevrolet 2500 HD pickup truck. A black Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound on SR-445. The driver of the Toyota 4Runner entered the northbound travel lane to pass the Chevrolet pickup truck and collided head-on with the motorcycle.
The impact from the collision with the motorcycle pushed the Toyota 4Runner into the Chevrolet pickup truck. The Toyota 4Runner then overturned in the dirt shoulder area and came to rest on its wheels.
