Carson City Planning Commission to discuss more RV, boat storage plans Wednesday
On Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 5 p.m. the Carson City Planning Commission will meet to discuss a number of items, including plans for another RV and boat storage facility off Emerson Drive.
This comes just a few weeks after approving plans to convert the vacant K-Mart building into an indoor/outdoor RV and boat storage facility.
The proposed project spans 3.64 acres east of Emerson Drive at the southern terminus of Louis Drive.
First, commissioners would need to approve of a master plan amendment to allow the project which is currently proposed on land zoned for single-family 6,000. Applicants are asking the zoning to be changed to Community / Regional Commercial.
The property is adjacent to single family residences on one acre lots to the north, commercial properties to the southeast, and I-580 to the southwest, according to the agenda.
The property was a remnant from freeway construction sold by the state to its current owner in 2016.
If map changes are approved, the applicant is then requesting a tentative commercial PUD (planned unit development) for a 167 space RV and boat storage facility, either covered or enclosed, with an on-site dump station.
There will not be an office on site, but instead, parking for customers that are loading or unloading their RV or boat will be accommodated along the drive aisles.
Access will be off of Emerson Drive, and a turning movement analysis must be submitted for the driveway.
Full plan requirements can be viewed here.
— A cannabis growing and processing facility in Mound House is changing ownership, and is requesting the approval of a permit transfer.
The facility, located at 8001 Highway 50 E., is currently permitted for operation and wishes to remain so, but needs a renewed special use permit in order to change hands.
The original SUPs for cannabis cultivation and production was approved in 2015, and the current owners are in the process of selling the business to the new applicant, BCC8001 LLC.
Staff is recommending approval.
