Detectives investigating incidents of vandalism at Carson City GOP headquarters

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is investigating incidents of vandalism that have occurred at the Carson City Republican Party headquarters. The latest incident was Monday, August 10 and involved spray paint tagging and an American flag that was intentionally cut nearly in half.

The tagging incident happened at around 1:47 a.m. Monday morning at the GOP headquarters, located at 1971 California Street in Carson City, said CCSO Detective Sam Hatley.

For anyone with information regarding Monday morning's incident, refer to Case No. 2020-4523.

In other vandalism incidents, during the early hours of July 30, 2020, it appears the same suspect poured an unknown substance on the front doors of the building. Refer to Case No. 2020-4276.

On July 21, 2020, the Republican Party’s original American flag was vandalized with paint. On June 15, 2020, graffiti was spray painted on the building.

Two brush fires were reported Thursday afternoon in the Dayton area of Lyon County, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center. Units responding to one of the fires have since been canceled.
