Carson City arrests: Burglary victim finds stolen AC unit in neighbor's window

A 39-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony burglary and possession of stolen property after the victim discovered their stolen air conditioning unit was propped in their neighbor's apartment window, a sheriff's deputy report said.

Phillip Eubanks was taken into custody at 6:02 p.m. in the 600 block of Hot Springs Road. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the location for a report of stolen property. The caller advised he had found his window air conditioning unit in the window of an apartment next door.

Deputies knocked on the door where the AC unit was and made contact with Eubanks. Another man who was in the apartment was subsequently arrested for a misdemeanor violation of probation warrant and was taken to jail.

The suspect, Eubanks, told deputies he had gotten the AC unit from a friend around three weeks ago. The deputy returned to the victim's apartment. The victim explained details of a recent burglary and other items stolen from his apartment including a washer and dryer, vacuum, an Xbox, a 70 inch TV, a Ruger firearm, 2 smaller TVs and a MAC Pro surface, the report states.

The victim provided the deputy photos from inside their apartment that showed most of the items that had been taken. After reviewing the photos, deputies asked Eubanks if they could look at the AC unit, the report states.

The deputy report notes the AC unit resembled the one in the photo. Eubanks was removed from the apartment and taken downstairs, the report states.

The suspect's girlfriend gave permission for the officer to look around the apartment. The deputy located a washer and dryer in the hall that resembled those in the photo. The deputy asked the woman if the victim could look in the apartment to identify items. The woman agreed. The victim identified the vacuum, the washer, dryer and AC unit.

A deputy read Eubanks his Miranda warning and he agreed to speak. He said the AC unit was given to him by a friend three weeks prior. He said the vacuum had been found near a dumpster, along with a fan, also 3 weeks ago. He said he bought the washer and dryer from a "guy" who lives in the apartment complex, but did not who which apartment that man lived in, the report states.

The woman denied knowing any of the items had been stolen. The victim, later, was able to identify a 70-inch TV and a fan, inside the apartment as well. The handgun and Xbox were not located.

Eubanks was arrested for suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property. Bail: $45,000.

Lisa Marie Parker, 41, of Oliverhurst, Calif., was taken into custody at 2:52 a.m. following a traffic stop for expired registration.

According to the arrest report, the driver provided a deputy a California identification card with a woman's name on it. The deputy was advised the woman's license was suspended for failure to appear. The woman couldn't provide proof of insurance for the vehicle. The officer was completing a citation for charges of expired registration, no proof of insurance and driving with a suspended license under the name the driver provided.

Deputies prepared the vehicle for inspection prior to tow. Inside the vehicle deputies located the woman's purse, which contained two bags with suspected methamphetamine. The woman was arrested for two counts possession of a controlled substance along with the other charges.

At jail the woman asked the officer it was "too late to be honest" and then admitted her real name. Deputies looked at the California identification card, and, after close inspection, determined it wasn't the same woman. She said it was a friend's ID and she used the ID because she thought she had a warrant. The woman then asked again if it was "too late to be honest," the report states.
