NHP identifies Reno man in fatal Carson City rollover at Goni Road

On Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at approximately 11:31 p.m., Nevada Highway Patrol troopers responded to a fatal crash at Goni Road at Fermi Road in Carson City per a memorandum of understanding with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.

Preliminary investigation shows that a white 2005 Ford Explorer was traveling southbound on Goni Road approaching Fermi Road. The driver of the Explorer began to negotiate a curve, entered a broadside skid, left the roadway to the left, and overturned.

The driver, Beau Mathews-Amos, a 24-year-old Reno resident, was declared deceased at the scene.

This crash is being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) - NHP Case #210701654.

A Carson City woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal motor vehicle accident that happened early Friday morning on I-580 in Washoe County, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Jordan Aaron was the president of a Carson City sushi restaurant who once ran for justice of the peace in Arizona. Antonio Pastini was the brash ex-Chicago cop who befriended a brothel mogul and spun yarns of a bare-knuckled youth in the Windy City that read like a cross between “Goodfellas” and “The Outsiders.”
They were one and the same person.

CARSON CITY — In order to deliver on the objective of giving mountain bikers a true backcountry experience on world-class singletrack that challenges riders as much as it inspires and rewards, and allowing for extra snowmelt time in a potentially record-setting Sierra Nevada winter, Epic Rides announced a date change of the Carson City Off-Road from June 14-16 to June 28-30.

Prosecutors are recommending 33 months in prison and $249,900 in fines or restitution for former Democratic state Senate Majority Leader Kelvin Atkinson, who pleaded guilty in Las Vegas federal court on Monday to one count of wire fraud.

Zero Fatalities has expanded its partnership with Lyft by teaming up with local businesses and organizations committed to eliminating impaired driving fatalities in Northern Nevada.

Lyft has pledged $50,000 in free ride credit to be distributed during major consumption holidays to support the coalition’s campaigns that promote safe transportation options throughout the region.

No pretender, Jackson Browne returns to Tahoe on Aug. 10. An Evening with Jackson Browne will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys. Browne last appeared at Lake Tahoe on a stormy night in 2015.

The Carson City School Board will host its next meeting on March 12 at 7 p.m. in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

Topics to discuss will include the Superintendent’s Report, which will go over the NJROTC Orienteering Team and the report from the national competition. In addition, the Carson City High School Cheer Team and the recognition of third place winner at the USA Spirit Nationals Competition will be discussed.

Uncovering Nevada’s past is the topic for the Carson City Leisure Hour Club on Wednesday, March 20. Presented by Dennis Casinelli, club members will learn about artifacts that he discovered while growing up in Nevada and during his long career as a highway engineer for the Nevada Department of Transportation. He also founded Cassinelli Landscaping and Construction, which still serves Northern Nevada today.

CARSON CITY — Museums from around the state will converge on the Nevada State Museum in Carson City on Tuesday, March 19 for the 2019 Nevada Museum Showcase.

A 56 year-old transient man was arrested Friday night at 8:19 p.m. in the area of Saliman Road and Long Street, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported, having been found in felony possession of methamphetamine as well as misdemeanor drug paraphernalia.

Supposedly, spring is less than two weeks away. As I sit here looking at the snow on the mountains and in the yard, I’m finding it hard to gear up my brain to think spring gardening thoughts. In some years, daffodils and forsythias would already be blooming. Instead, these cheery harbingers of spring have been delayed by lingering snow.

Sergio Trejo Jr., a Las Vegas native and first-generation college graduate, visited several Carson City schools recently to share his inspiring story about his admittance to medical school. Trejo presented to more than 150 students.

The 17th-ranked Nevada men’s basketball team saved its best performance for last in a 81-53 senior night victory over San Diego State, marking the final home game at Lawlor Events Center.
