Museum in Carson City puts spotlight on Nevada’s cultural diversity at upcoming showcase
CARSON CITY — Museums from around the state will converge on the Nevada State Museum in Carson City on Tuesday, March 19 for the 2019 Nevada Museum Showcase.
The day-long event, a partnership between the Nevada Division of Museums and History and the Nevada Museums Association, is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event brings together museums large and small from around the Silver State for an opportunity to promote and celebrate Nevada’s rich cultural landscape.
“The Nevada Museum Showcase highlights the depth and diversity of Nevada’s museums,” said Peter Barton, administrator of the Nevada Division of Museums and History. “From general history to children’s museums to local historical societies and theme-specific museums, the range of experiences and learning opportunities are endless.”
Participating museums will set up booths throughout the Nevada State Museum for visitors to discover, and each will offer information about their museum as well as some hands-on activities.
The Nevada State Museum’s famous Coin Press No. 1 will be in operation all day long as part of the showcase’s celebration of history and culture.
The Nevada State Museum is located at 600 N. Carson St. in Carson City, NV.
