South Lake Tahoe celebrates huge turnout for July 4 parade

The City of South Lake Tahoe celebrated its largest and most successful Fourth of July parade ever, with 80 entrants, 300 walkers and thousands crowding the streets to watch, officials said Thursday.
“We had more cars, more entrants and more people watching the parade than ever before,” said Chris Fiore, communications manager for the City of South Lake Tahoe, “The weather was perfect this year, and the new additions made the parade an even more welcome attractive to visitors and locals.”
The 2019 South Lake Tahoe 4th of July Parade even rolled out a 20-foot-tall Eagle Balloon to glide down the parade path which proved to be a crowd favorite this year.
“We had so many entrants from all different parts of the community come out to show their support,” said Fiore, “from dancers to local bands, to a spin class float, South Lake Tahoe showed us they were putting their best foot forward to celebrate Independence Day!”
The City also introduced their first Food Truck Park at Bijou Park after the parade! The park saw several food trucks feed hundreds of people, all while raising money for the American Legion.
“We wanted to try new things this year while also staying true to the core purpose of this day, celebrating our freedom and honoring the people who have worked and hard to make this country as wonderful as it is,” said Fiore, “ the food trucks were so popular this year and the fact that everyone is giving a portion of their proceeds to the American Legion made the event all the more special.”
Community partners also contributed to the success of this years parade, especially the Soroptimist International of South Lake.
