July 4 weekend around Carson City region includes carnival, parades, fireworks shows, live music and more

Independence Day weekend is turning out to be a busy one in and around the Carson City region with events spanning Thursday, July 1 through Monday, July 5.

Nevada Rural Counties RSVP is hosting their annual carnival Thursday through Sunday, with activities for the whole family at Mills Park in Carson City. The carnival grounds open at 4 p.m. Thursday, noon on Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. on Sunday.

The fireworks show on Sunday, July 4 will begin at 9:30 p.m. Go here for a full schedule of carnival activities, including live music and vendors, during the four-day celebration.

The USAF Mobility Band are performing at Bob McFadden Plaza on Saturday, July 3 at 5:30 p.m. to kick off the holiday weekend. More information on the family-friendly event can be found in the story here.

The Carson City Comedy Club will present comedian Paul Hooper inside of the Carson Nugget on Friday, July 2, Saturday, July 3, and Sunday, July 4 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15. More information can be found in the story here.

The Nevada State Railroad Museum will offer three days of train rides during the holiday weekend from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday through Monday. The museum is offering an all-inclusive wristband that allows visitors free admission into the museum and unlimited train rides for a day.

Tours will be available at the Nevada State Prison every day this weekend from Saturday, July 3 to Monday, July 5. Presented by the Nevada State Preservation Society, tour times will proceed every hour from 10-1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Monday will feature eight tours every half hour from 10-1 p.m. Tickets are $15 a person. Go here for tickets and more information.

The Carson Valley Inn presents country singer and musician Trace Adkins on Friday, July 2 at 8 p.m. at outdoor venue TJ’s Corral. For more information and ticketing, go here.

Main Street Gardnerville is organizing the eight annual Freedom 5k Fun Run and Walk on Sunday, July 4 beginning at 8 a.m. at Heritage Park in Gardnerville. A pancake breakfast presented by the Carson Valley Lions and Pops Orchestra concert to follow at 10 a.m. For information and registration, go here.

The town of Minden will host a Fourth of July celebration on Sunday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Minden Park. The Carson Valley Inn will provide complimentary barbecue food and activities including a kids bike parade and bounce houses are planned. For information, go here.

The town of Genoa will present their Genoa Americana Celebration at Mormon Station State Park on Sunday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event will feature Americana bands until 4 p.m. as well as the Carson City Symphony at 4:30 p.m. Chicken dinners will be available for purchase. Dayton will host its third annual Fourth of July parade to celebrate Independence Day, presented by the Friends of Old Town Dayton. Locals are invited to participate in the parade, beginning at 10 a.m. Go to the story here for more information.

The Virginia City Tourism Commission will host a Fourth of July celebration complete with a parade, live music and fireworks show. The events kickoff at noon on Sunday, July 4 with the parade down C Street. The fireworks show will proceed at dark. Go to the story here for more information about festivities and sign-ups.

The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Lake Tahoe will be hosting an evening of live music and fireworks on Saturday, July 3 in Guitar Plaza from 7-10 p.m. The show is limited to paying guests only, tickets are $65. For more information, go to the story here.

A group of South Lake Tahoe businesses and residents have joined forces to produce a small fireworks show on July 4 beginning at 9:20 p.m. at the Stateline corridor. Go to the story here for more information and to donate to the cause.

This event is free and gives families a safe, fun and centrally-located option for Trick or Treating.

Once a month the Maizie Harris Jesse Theater in Carson City hosts rising stars in the songwriting world from both near and far. Season 3 the series starts Saturday, Nov. 4 featuring Spike McGuire and Rachael McElhiney.

The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association 2023 Classes 5A, 3A and 2A State boys and girls cross country meets are scheduled to be contested Saturday, Nov. 4 at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in Reno.

Carson City Sheriff's Office Leads the Parade

The Nevada Day celebration began with a helicopter air lifted American Flag flown over Carson City as the National Anthem plays while the Carson City Sheriff's Office leads the parade down Carson Street.

Fifteen members, age 70 and over, participated in the 3rd annual Genoa Lakes Ladies’ Golf Club (GLLGC) Senior Cup Tournament at the Lakes course in September.

Just because the parade is over doesn’t mean the fun is! Head down to Stewart and Telegraph behind the Nugget for family friendly fun!

There are a number of vendors, multiple bounce houses, a put-put golf course, live music from Burning Man art cars, face painting, Cotton Candy Clouds art stations and bunny cuddles, and so much more!

Are you ready for your new best friend? Animal adoptions by the Nevada Humane Society are taking place throughout the parade as well as offering.

There are a number of animals available including kittens, puppies and adult dogs.
