Friends of Old Town Dayton to host July 4 parade
Dayton will celebrate Independence Day with its third annual 4th of July Parade hosted by the Friends of Old Town Dayton.
Locals can enter the parade or bring some chairs and line the streets to watch the various entries. There is no charge to be in the parade.
Parade-goers can either watch or walk in the parade. Those who wish to walk should gather at 9 a.m. in the Courthouse parking lot. Step off is approximately 10 a.m.
Participants and parade watchers are encouraged to show up wearing red, white and blue. Parade walkers are encouraged to gather their family, neighbors, pets and livestock and decorate their bikes, scooters, wagons, tractors or trucks.

Also, there will be a July 4 Star Spangled Scramble golf tournament and Dayton Valley Golf Course on Sunday, July 4. The scramble is open to the public and members. To enter the cost is $100 for a public player, $45 for full time member and $70 for twilight members.
The event fee includes a barbecue, drinks, a prize fund, games and activities. Call 775-246-7888 to sign up or visit the pro shop.
