Carson City arrests: Man jailed for suspicion of domestic battery with strangulation

A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday for felony suspicion of domestic battery with strangulation, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Juventino Guitron-Chavez was arrested at 4:06 a.m. in the 1800 block of North Edmonds. According to the arrest report, the suspect allegedly pushed his girlfriend during an argument, then choked her with both hands for approximately 1 minute to a point where she could not breath.

Deputies also learned there was a 7-week old infant in the home. The victim called a family member who then called 911. Deputies observed red marks on the victim’s neck, a red mark on the left side of her upper chest and one on her neck below her chin. She also had a swollen upper lip. Deputies observed the woman was coughing up blood.

The suspect was sleeping in his bedroom when officers arrived. He was asked what happened. He told the officers he was drinking and didn’t remember what happened. He then refused to speak with the officers. Bail: $15,000.

In the arrests:
— A Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 12:16 a.m. in the 900 block of South Carson Street on six felony charges, three for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, two felony warrants, and a parole and probation hold.

Christina Bree Gonzalez was also arrested for suspicion of gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

During an investigation in which she gave officers a wrong name, the woman was found to be in possession of several prescription pills without a prescription, small amounts of heroin and methamphetamine, a spoon with residue, hypodermics and a “tooter” straw, commonly used for inhaling narcotics. She is being held without bail due to the warrants, issued out of Washoe County.

— A 31-year-old Santa Cruz, Calif., man was arrested Monday, 4:10 a.m. in the 2200 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of defrauding a restaurant. The man allegedly ate a meal at a restaurant, left with an outstanding $16.54 bill, then later returned to the business ordering another meal that he consumed, with a bill of $16.50 that he said he could not pay for. Bail: $302.

— A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 12:04 a.m. in the 300 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of battery.

According to the arrest report, the suspect kept asking a man for cigarettes at a bar. After giving the suspect three cigarettes three separate times, the man told the suspect to buy his own from the bar.

The suspect, who had been drinking, told the man “f*ck you then,” and elbowed him in the chest and attempted to take him down, which led to a fight. The incident was witnessed by several others who said the suspect, who had been bumming the cigarettes, had been harassing the man and woman at the bar all night.
The suspect was arrested for misdemeanor battery. Bail: $1,137.

— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 4:35 a.m. in the area of North Carson and Winnie Lane for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued May 31, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $215.

— A 36-year-old Vallejo, Calif., woman was booked into jail Sunday, 8:30 p.m. for two misdemeanor warrants: contempt of court and violation of a suspended sentence. Both issued out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,298.

— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 1:23 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Carson Street for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued out of East Fork Justice Court in September 2008. Bail: $380.

— A 20-year-old Carson City woman was booked into jail Sunday, 1:10 p.m. for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued June 13, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 29-year-old Carson City man as arrested Sunday, 2:06 a.m. in the 200 block of Walsh Street for misdemeanor suspicion of obstructing a police officer, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and a warrant for violation of a suspended sentence. A 19-year-old man with him was also arrested for suspicion of obstructing a police officer, minor consuming alcohol and a contempt of court warrant.

According to the arrest report, deputies were advised that two men left were in a bar and left without paying for alcoholic beverages. Deputies located the men on Telegraph Street, where they took off running. They were told to stop several times. The 19-year-old was found and arrested in the 500 block of Spear Street. The 29-year-old man was caught in the 200 block of Wash Street after a pursuit. Bail for the 29-year-old: $2,049. Bail for the 19-year-old: $1,154.

— A 49-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested Saturday, 8:56 p.m. in the 700 block of South Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of trespassing. According to the arrest report, the man, who had previously been trespassed from the casino was asked to leave. He began challenging staff to a fight. He submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .225. Bail: $352.

— A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 4:28 p.m. on William Street for two misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence warrants. Bail: $2,000.

— A 33-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Saturday, 1:10 p.m. for a misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence warrant. Bail: $1,000.

— A 56-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 6:35 p.m. in the 1500 block of Kingsley Lane for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and hit and run causing property damage. According to the arrest report, the woman allegedly hit a vehicle in the parking lot of a grocery store and left the scene.

The suspect told deputies she went to the store to buy cigarettes and said as she was leaving the parking lot she hit the vehicle. She said she looked at the damage and left her information on the windshield, which officers determined a note had not been left.

The woman told a deputy that she had been drinking alcohol before she drove to the store and then later changed her story, stating she had been drinking after she had come home from the store, according to the arrest report.

The woman agreed to submit to field sobriety tests and due to her intoxication, she was unable to complete them. She submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .300. Bail: $1,774.
