Carson City deputies make domestic battery, DUI arrests Friday
A 27-year-old woman was arrested Friday for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor driving without a valid license, driving without registration and not having insurance, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Caitlin Hanson was arrested at 8:44 p.m. in the area of Peters and Long streets. During an investigation following a traffic stop, a canine did an exterior sniff of the vehicle the woman was driving. The dog alerted positive. A search was conducted where officers found methamphetamine in two baggies located in a purple purse. The woman’s children, one who was with her at the time of the time arrest, were turned over to Child Protective Services. Bail: $3,591.
In other arrests:
— A 34-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 11 p.m. in the area of Highway 50 and Fairview for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and driving without headlights.
According to the arrest report, at around 10:35 p.m. a deputy observed a vehicle that turned eastbound on Highway 50 from Airport Road driving without headlights illuminated. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver.
The officer could smell an odor of alcohol on the woman. She stated she had a glass of wine about two hours prior. She agreed to submit to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. She gave a preliminary breath test of .105 and was placed into custody. At jail she provided evidentiary breath samples of .076 and .069. Bail: $1,249.
— A 49-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 12:34 p.m. in the area of Adams and North Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, the woman allegedly pushed her boyfriend off of his bicycle and hit him several times.
The incident was witnessed by others. One witness wrote a written statement saying they saw the man riding his bike on the sidewalk, when the woman ran to him, pushed him off the bike and hit him a few times before leaving. The man then reportedly got back on his bike and rode away.
Deputies made contact with the victim and suspect who were living at a motel room. Deputies have had prior contacts with the pair. Bail: $3,137.
— A 46-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 8:02 a.m. in the 1900 block of Boeing Way for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, the man allegedly was upset because he couldn’t find his truck keys. He then allegedly rushed his girlfriend, pulled her by the hair and hit her. The woman had bruises, redness scrapes and scratches to her forehead, elbows and knees. Bail: $3,137.
— A 21-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 4:19 a.m. in the area of Silver Oak and Carson Street for misdemeanor obstruction of an officer and drunken pedestrian. Bail: $484.
— An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested at 5:39 a.m. Friday in the 3800 block of South Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of battery. According to the arrest report, a group of friends had been swimming in an apartment complex pool. Two of the friends began arguing over a phone, one saying the other had it. The suspect then allegedly punched his friend in the face and head and pushed him to the ground, kicking him in the ribs. Other friends who witnessed the incident separated the two. The suspect’s phone was returned. Bail: $1,137.
