Lyon County emergency crews respond to brush fire, vehicle crash in Dayton

Central Lyon County Fire Department was called Monday afternoon to a brush fire in Dayton near Townsend Street and Andrea Way. Carson City Fire Department was also called to respond as mutual aid.
The fire was reported to be 1 acre in size with a controlled rate of spread, according to a battalion chief on scene. An engine from Carson City and a Central Lyon County Fire brush engine were also called.
The battalion chief reported that a canal was helping block some of the rate of spread. Firefighters were working to get a handle on it.
Earlier Monday afternoon a traffic crash in Dayton sent one person to the hospital via Care Flight. Two others, a passenger and an infant were transported by ground ambulance to the hospital, according to a Nevada Highway Patrol spokeswoman.
The crash, reported at 2:24 p.m. was at Highway 50 and Douglas Street. The incident is under investigation.
