Carson City Humane Society's Pet of the Week: Gizmo
Good afternoon, Carson City! Meet Gizmo: this very handsome kitty is three years old. Cat staff at the shelter is obsessed with his beautiful tuxedo fur, and it’s great that he loves to be brushed too. He is built like a Saint Bernard version of a cat with big paws and legs. Shelter staff loves cuddling with him and helping him play with scratching posts.
Gizmo was attacked by a dog as a kitten and ended up losing his leg. His skull was crushed during the incident and caused neurological damage, too. He is a survivor and is healthy otherwise, but cannot jump on things due to his wiggly, wobbly neurological condition. Gizmo likes using lifts or stairs and is excellent at comfortably napping on the floor. He gets around like he has all four of his legs, and is affectionate, curious, and so sweet!
Gizmo’s ideal home would be one with adults who are often around to keep him company and have lots of time and patience. He loves attention and sometimes has a bit of anxiety in new situations.
How would Gizmo describe himself?
“I know I may have lost a leg, but it doesn't mean I lost one of my 9 lives! I'm still playful and curious, but I have a deeper love for people who accept me the way I am. I'll reach out for you with my paw, kiss your nose, or curl up in the crook of your arm. I need to go to a quiet home, with NO DOGS, and with older children if any. I'm going to need a lot of extra love and time due to some neurological problems. However I'm full of love and would love to shower you with affection.”
If you can give this sweet kitty some tender, loving care, then come and visit Gizmo to adopt him at the Nevada Humane Society Carson City Animal Shelter. You can visit the Carson City branch of the Nevada Humane Society at 549 Airport Road in Carson City, or by calling (775) 887-2171.
