Carson City gears up for third Levitt AMP outdoor concert season with new sponsorships
The Brewery Arts Center in Carson City is preparing for the third year of the Levitt AMP Carson City free summer concert series.
Sponsored by the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation, a national foundation dedicated to strengthening the social fabric of America through free live music, Brewery Arts Center has once again become one of 15 winning organizations that competed nationally for the Levitt AMP Grant Awards just as they did in 2016 and 2017.
The Levitt AMP Grant Awards are an exciting matching grant opportunity created by the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation out of Los Angeles to serve small to mid-sized towns and cities with populations up to 400,000. Fifteen nonprofits will receive $25,000 each in matching funds to produce their own Levitt AMP Music Series — an outdoor, free concert series featuring a diverse lineup of professional musicians.
Brewery Arts Center will produce the concerts on the Minnesota Street Stage in the center of their two block campus every Saturday night for 10 weeks and will accommodate a couple thousand concert goes each week. This family friendly event will include children’s activities such as Harmony Sculpture Park, art wall and bounce houses, there is seating available, or audiences can bring their own, everything is barrier free allowing all people access to quality live music.
The entire concert series which kicks off on Saturday, June 23, 7 p.m. with legends of reggae, The Original Wailers, costs well over $100,000 so the non-profit relies heavily on the generosity of the community and the community has responded.
KNBP, Northern Nevada’s local PBS station has come through with a media sponsorship offering the creating of underwriting announcements, production, kid’s activities with the characters from some of the popular PBS kids shows.
“KNBP’s mission to enrich, inspire, entertain and captivate you and your family by sharing ideas, exploring our world and fostering the joy of learning. This mission is in direct alignment with the mission and purpose of the Brewery Arts Center”, said BAC director Gina Lopez Hill. “This is just the beginning of the relationship as we look to take this to the next level in 2019 with the possibility of filming all 10 live shows for National distribution to further the Levitt Mission of building the social fabric of America through the power of free, live music.”
Other community supporters who have stepped up in a big way are Nevada Division of Tourism, The Change Companies, Carson Tahoe Hospital, Carson Visitor’s Bureau, Nevada Arts Council and the Max Casino with cash or in-kind contributions of over $5,000.
Additionally, we have several companies and even individuals who have supported with $1,000 Artist Sponsorships including Dr. Mark Funke who was the first to jump on board with both an artist sponsorship and a cup sponsorship.
“We are extremely grateful for this show of community support” said Hill. “These forward-thinking businesses know the value of having a vibrant art district and the Levitt AMP series in Carson City is a tremendous tool for recruiting and retaining a talented workforce and building a strong economy.”
Brewery Arts Center asks supporters to start spreading the word to family, friends, colleagues and neighbors and rally the community to attend these concerts and support their local arts community. Having only a few actual employees, the BAC also invites willing community members to come and be a part as a volunteer to help make the concerts safe, memorable and enjoyable for all.
