Outdoors with Don Q: Here's who will be going big game hunting this fall

It’s official: Systems Consultants, the private computer firm in Fallon that conducts the annual computerized drawings for Nevada’s big game hunting tags, has posted the results of the 2014 drawings at its website for the entire world to see.

There were a whole bunch of winners and a heck of a lot more losers in this year’s drawings for tags for Pronghorn Antelope, Black Bear, Mule Deer, Rocky Mt. Elk, California Bighorn Sheep, Desert Bighorn Sheep, Rocky Mt. Bighorn Sheep and Rocky Mt. Goat.

The website can be found here. As I have done for a number of years, I randomly selected the names of some of the lucky folks who are going hunting this year.

So, with that said, let’s have some fun: If your name is listed in this article, it’s the result of my random selection process. And, on the other hand, if your name is not listed, it is also the result of my random selection.
For starters, based on my selections, here’s one lucky 2014 big game hunter for each letter of the alphabet from “A” to “Z” and many of those hunters drew more than one tag!

Congratulations and Condolences
Congratulations:
To all of you who were successful in drawing one or more big game hunting tags for the 2014 seasons and best wishes for a highly successful hunt or hunts. Well done!

Sincere Condolences:
To all of you who were unsuccessful in drawing a tag and best wishes for having better luck and being successful in the 2015 tag drawings.

Finally
If you, too, would like to see the list of the successful and unsuccessful big game hunters, just go to Internet website www.huntnevada.com.
Once there, click on “Tag Results” and then go to “2014 Main Draw” and click on “Withdrawn,” “Successful,” “Successful Applicants by Hunt and Choice,” “Unsuccessful,” “Rejected” or “Bonus Point” and browse to your heart’s content (like I did). It is very interesting and very, very informative.

Bet Your Favorite Pigeon
Bet your favorite pigeon he can’t tell you which big game tags I applied for.
If he grins and says, “Don and his son Jim applied as a party for a rifle, buck mule deer tag for hunt area No. 192 and they were successful,” he could be one of the many other hunters who were unsuccessful in the drawings.
