Carson City woman arrested after carrying indigestion, pancreatic medication without a prescription present

A 45-year-old Carson City woman was arrested during a traffic stop Thursday afternoon in the area of Roop and Long after allegedly violating her parole after deputies found two medications without a prescription present in her purse, one for indigestion and another for pancreatic dysfunction.

According to the report, deputies were patrolling in the area when they observed a vehicle driving with no license plate nor temporary tag in the front windshield. Deputies stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, who said he had purchased the vehicle months ago but hadn’t registered it because he could not afford it. He said he had just received a citation for the same offense a few days prior, but continued to drive because he “had to get around,” according to the report.

The passenger in the vehicle identified herself as Janna Fenwick. Fenwick stated she had just left Parole and Probation where she had checked in. Deputies asked a K-9 be deployed to the scene.

A K-9 Deputy arrived on scene and gave a positive alert to the vehicle.

Deputies asked Fenwick if she had any drugs on her and she said she had suboxone, which she had a prescription for, and that she takes it to help with her alcohol cravings as she is a recovering addict.

Fenwick stated deputies could look through her purse inside the vehicle, according to the report.

Inside the bag deputies located a prescription bottle for Ondansetron (an anti-nausea medication), but had a “handful of two different kinds of pills in there,” according to the report. Deputies identified the pills as Metoclopramide Hydrochloride (an anti-sickness medication) and Creon 1236 (a pancreatic dysfunction medication), both requiring a prescription.

Fenwick stated she takes the pills for indigestion and pancreas issues, and suboxone for alcohol cravings and back pain. Deputies told Fenwick she needed to carry those items with their prescription bottles/labels.

Parole and probation requested Fenwick be placed on a hold.

She was taken into custody for felony Parole and Probation hold without bail.
