Carson City sheriff's log: Woman arrested in church parking lot for drug possession
A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 700 block of College Parkway early Friday morning for possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a sheriff's deputy said.
Adrianna Lynn Vanegas was arrested after deputies responded to a report of an activated alarm with interior motion detected. According to the report, deputies walked in from the west side of the parking lot that provided parking for a vet clinic and a church, both of which were closed.
Deputies observed a vehicle parked in the parking lot with a woman inside it, and she appeared to be asleep in the driver’s seat. Deputies woke up the driver, who stated her tire was flat and she had driven it from a nearby gas station.
Deputies asked her if she had any history with heroin as she appeared to “be on the nod,” the report stated, and she said she did not use heroin but had used meth about a week prior.
Deputies asked if she had anything in her vehicle a K9 would alert to, and she said she did not. However, deputies said, while she was talking she paused as if she wasn’t sure, and “answered as if she was ashamed (looking toward the ground).”
Deputies noted she had a knife between the driver’s seat and the center console, on the seat inside of her seatbelt. Deputies had her step out of the vehicle for safety reasons, at which point they noted a glass meth pipe with a white powder substance in the bowl end in her front pocket of her sweatshirt, hanging halfway out.
She was placed into handcuffs, and she asked why she was being placed into handcuffs. Deputies told her to “look at what is hanging out of her sweater” and she noticed the pipe hanging out.
During a search of her person, deputies located two baggies of methamphetamine in her front right pants pocket.
In a search of her vehicle, they located additional methamphetamine, heroin prescription pills, and additional paraphernalia, according to the report. She was transported to the jail without incident and her vehicle was towed. Bail: $2,500.
— A 58-year-old Carson City man was placed in civil protective custody while he sobered up after hospital staff called deputies regarding a man who had come in with a .49 percent BAC.
Deputies were planning on taking him to the Vitality Detox Center, but they advised they did not have room, so he was booked into the Carson City Jail until he was sober.
— A 53-year-old Washoe Valley man was arrested on a contempt of court warrant out of Carson City Justice Court for failure to appear to pay fines or restitution as ordered by the court. The warrant was issued June 21 of 2018.
The man was transported from Douglas County Friday after serving time on charges in their county before facing the warrant in Carson City. Bail: $225 cash only.
