Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report through May 18

Here is the Carson City area road report through May 18, 2014: Ponderosa Drive will be permanently closed to public traffic south of E. Roland Street on Tuesday, May 13. Temporary access will be allowed for emergency vehicles and buses only.

There will be lane closures with flagger-controlled traffic on weekdays on Northgate Lane between the freeway overpass and Jumbo Court.

A southbound lane of Saliman Road will be closed just north of E. fifth street from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

The outside northbound lane of N Carson Street just north of Winnie Lane and the right turn lane of westbound Winnie Lane at Carson Street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

There will be street shoulder work on weekdays at the following locations:
— Silver Sage Drive between Sonoma Street and Colorado Street.
— Woodside Drive between Ladera Drive and Stanton Drive.
— The east side of N. Carson Street north of Monk Court.
— Clearview Drive west of Gentry Lane.
— South side of Robinson Street between Carson Street and Plaza Street.
— Lakeview Road south of Hobart Road.

In Douglas County, State Route 207 over Kingsbury Grade is closed until May 23. The alternative route is Highway 50 over Spooner Summit.

Traffic traveling from the Carson Valley to Lake Tahoe and Lake Tahoe to Carson Valley that would normally use Kingsbury Grade will need to use the Highway 50 detour. Residents and businesses will be able to access their homes and places of business by detouring via Highway 50. Both emergency and public transportation vehicles, including hotel (both valley and lake side) shuttles, will always have access and will not be required to use a detour.

Construction will resume during the summer months beginning Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, Aug. 29, with Kingsbury Grade open to through traffic, but nighttime construction-related lane closures and delays to be expected, according to NDOT. The road will be open with one lane in each direction during daytime hours, weekends and all holidays through these summer months.

State Route 20 (Nevada County) at Idaho-Maryland Road: Motorists can expect the eastbound on-ramp closed from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do guardrail repairs.

State Route 20 (Nevada County) at Idaho-Maryland Road: Motorists can expect the eastbound ramps closed from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do guardrail repairs.

State Route 20 (Nevada County) from Scotts Flat Road (5 Mile House) to Interstate 80: Motorists can expect intermittent one-way traffic controls from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do tree work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado and Placer County) from State Route 193 in Cool to the Bear River Bridge: Motorists can expect intermittent one-way traffic controls from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) from Brandy City Road to Wild Plum Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls at various locations from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to clean ditches.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Alta to Drum Forebay: Motorists can expect the east and westbound No. 2 lanes closed from 5 p.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday. A contractor is scheduled to install k-rail.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Baxter to Whitmore: Westbound motorists can expect the No. 1 lane closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do drainage work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Sawmill to Gold Run: Westbound motorists can expect the No. 2 lane closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do sign work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Emigrant Gap to Jeo Laing Road: Eastbound motorists can expect the No. 1 lane closed from midnight Monday through 11:59 Saturday. A contractor is scheduled to do shoulder work.

Camp GOTR (Girls on the Run) is coming to Carson City for the second year in a row! Camp GOTR will be a week-long, half-day summer camp from 8 AM- 12 PM at the Carson City Community Center the week of August 5th- August 9th.

Girls on the Run Sierras is a character-building program for girls in 3rd through 8th grade operating in the Reno-Tahoe area.

A number of new Junior Park Rangers received their badges as they were sworn in as part of the annual Junior Park Rangers Day in Carson City.

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Bob Crowell Boardroom of the Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.
