Carson City leads in vaccinations, with over 40 percent of population having started process

COVID-19 vaccine statistics for Nevada as well as the Quad Counties and our neighbor to the north shows many Nevadans are opting to be vaccinated. Almost a million Nevadans have initiated their vaccines as of Thursday, April 8.

Carson City is leading in the Quad Counties for vaccinations with over 40 percent having initiated their vaccines, which means they have received their first dose. Douglas County is close behind with 37 percent having initiated, while Lyon and Storey are lagging behind with 28 percent (Lyon) and 10 percent (Storey).

Statewide Statistics

As of Thursday, April 8, 1.42 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine has been administered statewide.

910,981 total Nevadans have initiated their vaccines, including those who have received their first dose as well as those who have received both.

This is 36.44 percent of the total Nevada population.

For completed vaccines, meaning someone has received both first and second doses, 558,810 individuals are reported as fully vaccinated which is 22.35 percent of the population ages 16 and over.

Carson City Statistics

In Carson City, 29,817 doses have been administered with 18,875 people having initiated their vaccine. 11,709 individuals have completed their two-step vaccinations.

40.22 percent of the Carson City population aged 16 and over have initiated their vaccines and 24.95 percent aged 16 and over are fully vaccinated.

Douglas County Statistics

In Douglas County, 25,875 total doses have been administered, and 15,832 individuals have initiated their vaccines. 10,523 individuals are now fully vaccinated.

37.48 percent of the population aged 16 and over have initiated the vaccine, and 24.92 percent of the population is now fully vaccinated.

Lyon County Statistics

In Lyon County, 21,457 total doses have been administered and 13,590 individuals have initiated their vaccines. 8,485 individuals are fully vaccinated.

28.72 percent of the population aged 16 and over has initiated the vaccine and 17.93 percent of the population aged 16 and over is fully vaccinated.

Storey County Statistics

In Storey County, 650 doses have been administered. 408 total vaccinations have been initiated, and 283 individuals are fully vaccinated.

10.35 percent of the population aged 16 and over have initiated their vaccine, and 7.18 percent of the population aged 16 and over is fully vaccinated.

Washoe County Statistics

In Washoe County, 229,996 vaccines have been administered. 146,378 individuals have begun their vaccinations and 90,679 individuals are fully vaccinated.

38.23 percent of the population aged 16 and over have initiated their vaccines, and 23.69 percent of the population aged 16 and over is fully vaccinated.

COVID-19 Statistics

Statewide, 306,315 confirmed cases have been reported and there is an average of 203 new daily cases. 5,313 COVID-19 deaths have been reported and there is an average of 3 deaths daily from COVID-19.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting the first human cases of West Nile virus in Lyon County for 2017. The Disease Control and Prevention Division at CCHHS oversees disease surveillance and investigations in Lyon County and is the agency monitoring the situation. The individuals confirmed to have WNV were diagnosed with the less severe form of the illness.
