Thunderstorms developing in region with potential for flash flooding
UPDATE 4:58PM: The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Flood Advisory for Eastern Carson City, central Lyon County and Douglas County.

National Weather Service meteorologists are monitoring developing showers and thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon across western and northern Nevada, including Carson City and Douglas County.
According to the weather service, activity is forming along the Highway 395 corridor from southern Douglas County through Lassen County. A Flash Flood Warning was issued for Douglas County at around 3:35 p.m. Go here for the warning information.
"At 3:31 p.m. Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the eastern parts of Douglas County, east of Minden and Gardnerville. This includes the Preacher Fire burn area. Storms will continue through at least 4 PM with rainfall amounts over one inch likely.
"Some locations that will experience flooding include the recent Preacher Fire burn area, Buckeye Creek, Highway 395 between Gardnerville and Topaz Lake including Holbrook Junction. Watch for debris flows which can occur suddenly," according to the weather service flash flood warning statement.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for much of the region until 10 p.m. tonight.
Dime size hail and winds in excess of 45 mph will be possible with these storms. The storms may intensify The weather service urges people to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
During a thunderstorm, seek shelter inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows. Hikers and campers should seek shelter in a vehicle if possible.
