Carson City weather: Showers continue into Wednesday with new storm arriving Friday
The Carson City area is experiencing an early spring cool-down with rain showers and even a few roars of thunder. Up in the Sierra and at Lake Tahoe, snow has been falling and accumulating on roadways along the passes.
Valley rain and mountain snow showers will continue into Wednesday, with another slight chance for valley thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.
Slushy snow accumulations for roadways possible between 6,000-7,000 feet with rainfall for valley locations mainly below 6,000 feet.
Main stem rivers will see rises and no flooding is expected but flows will remain high. Smaller creeks and streams will also continue to see rises with the coming precipitation.
The pattern remains active through the week as the next system provides another round of mountain snow and valley rainfall Friday afternoon into Saturday across the Sierra and western Nevada.
A weaker and colder system will also bring chances for snow showers down below 5,000 feet Sunday into Monday morning.
