Carson City Sheriff’s Office provides update on juvenile runaway

We are reporting an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. The individual was a Carson City resident. We are also reporting 13 new cases and 15 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 12,885, with 12,442 recoveries and 228 deaths; 215 cases remain active.

A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 3900 block of Sweetwater Drive Thursday after allegedly gouging a man’s eye, stealing a bike pump, and attempting to stab someone with a sickle.

UPDATE SAT. 8:30 a.m.: Carson City Sheriff Furlong stated Saturday morning that a press release with detailed information will be released before noon.

The carnival will be reopened today, and the sheriff’s office does not believe that the incident was affiliated with the carnival in anyway, but was off to the side of the carnival near the restrooms.

The sheriff stated that access to the area for first responders last night was difficult, and that the carnival operators stated the ground was far larger than they had been expecting.

The Nevada Day Store and Carson Now hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration at their new offices Thursday, complete with a performance by Carson High School Cheer and a donation to holiday with a hero.

A total of $2,800 was raised for the annual Holiday with a Hero, in which children are taken on a holiday shopping spree by a local first responder, and a check was presented.

Gardnerville, NV- The Active 20 - 30 Club of Carson Valley has generously made a $5,000 contribution to the Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department for youth participating in County sports programs.

The club is able to provide this donation because of their fundraising efforts such as the fun and successful Carson Valley Days event which is annually held the second week of June.
