Nevada 150 Exhibit on Display for Limited Time at Nevada Legislature
Nevada’s Sesquicentennial year may have ended but it is still being honored in an exhibit featured in the Nevada Legislature. Artifacts from the year-long celebration are currently on display until Feb. 20.
The exhibit contains many articles from the year including the Sesquicentennial saddle handmade by J.M. Capriolas in Elko and which features the GS Garcia stamp and Nevada 150 commemorative silver medallions; a diorama entitled “Home Means Nevada” created using only materials from Nevada; a replica of the Governor’s Mansion made out of historical playing cards; multiple photos from the celebration and much more.
The exhibit will be in Carson City until Feb. 20 and then will go to the Grant Sawyer Building in Las Vegas and be on display for six months before completing its journey to “Battle Born Hall” located in the old Senate Chambers in the Capitol where it will become a permanent exhibit celebrating Nevada’s 150th anniversary of statehood.
The exhibit can be found on the second floor of the Nevada Legislative Building on the Senate side of the building. The exhibit is open to the public.
