The Basil in Carson City, Cafe Del Rio in Virginia City makes 10 best restaurant list

Nevada's culinary scene is full of fine dining and local food options. Website Theculturetrip.com named four area restaurants to its "10 Best Restaurants in Nevada: Local Food & Fine Dining" list. They are: The Basil in Carson City, Cafe Del Rio in Virginia City, Brooks' Bar & Deck at Edgewood Tahoe in Stateline and Le Bistro in Incline Village.

TheCultureTrip.com bills itself as a one-stop, global website, showcasing the best of art, food, culture and travel for every country in the world. In December it named the Courthouse Gallery in Carson City, and St. Mary's in Virginia City to its list of must-see Nevada art stops.

The website notes the following in its latest writeup found here, along with six other restaurants on its list:

The Basil is a welcoming establishment located just moments away from the Capitol in the heart of Carson City. Specializing in Thai cuisine with a twist, the interior space, complete with rich woods and Thai art pieces, provides a peaceful atmosphere for guests after the mouthwatering array of dishes, made with the freshest ingredients available. Flavorful options abound, with highlights including a protein option, such as meat, sautéed with ginger roots, scallions and vegetables; spinach and broccoli served with a protein and topped with peanut dressing; and a roasted, deep-fried boneless duck over spinach and broccoli with honey sauce. Desserts are also available, including the mango tango — a must-try combination of coconut sticky rice, mango and coconut milk.

Cafe Del Rio: Located in the Victorian-era town of Virginia City, Cafe Del Rio is a lovely eatery specializing in Southwestern cuisine. Opened in 2005 and nestled inside the historic Werrin Building, this welcoming café features a menu packed full of flavor that will tickle the taste buds of those seeking meat, seafood or vegetarian items. Serving lunch, dinner and brunch, diners can feast upon everything from 'gospel' fried chicken to Yucatan enchiladas: shrimp, crab and artichoke hearts in blue corn tortillas, with cheese and ancho chili cream. Creative desserts are offered as well, including the must-try apricot-ancho chili cheesecake.

Brooks' Bar & Deck: Situated off the 18th hole at the renowned Edgewood Tahoe golf course, Brooks' Bar and Deck is a casual eatery serving American cuisine. A large deck and beautiful interior, complete with vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, allow guests to enjoy their meals all the while taking in picturesque views of the magnificent Sierra Nevada Mountains, Lake Tahoe and verdant golf course. The menu has something for everyone, with highlights including fish and chips, made with fresh salmon, and the veggie wrap, of falafel, cucumber, tomato, sprouts, fresh herbs and tahini, served with sweet potato fries. A variety of local brews are also available.

Le Bistro: Located on the north end of Lake Tahoe, in Incline Village, Le Bistro is a charming eatery featuring contemporary French cuisine. This gem of a restaurant has a casual yet elegant ambience, perfect for a night out with friends or romantic rendezvous. At the helm is chef Jean-Pierre Doignon, a native of France, who creates delectable items made with the best, often organic, ingredients available. With both à la carte and prix-fixe menus, guests have a host of options, such as live Maine lobster cocktail with avocado salad and amoureuse dressing, a medallion of milk-fed veal with truffle risotto and fresh morel mushrooms, or ratatouille lasagna.
