Vehicle crash on Highway 395 in Douglas County sends motorist to hospital via Care Flight
A traffic accident this morning on Highway 395 at Airport Road north of Minden in Douglas County resulted in serious injuries to a motorist who was flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
The accident happened at 8:12 a.m. The preliminary accident investigation details indicate that a brown Chevrolet was on Airport Road attempting to travel south on Highway 395. A white Toyota driven by Jason Michael Derrer, 28, of Gardnerville, was traveling northbound on Highway 395 in the number one travel lane. The single occupant in the brown Chevrolet failed to yield pulling out in front of the white Toyota, according to NHP.
The Toyota struck the Chevrolet in the left side of the vehicle. The driver of the Chevrolet was flown to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight with serious injuries. Northbound traffic was temporarily detoured while emergency crews worked the accident. A single northbound lane is open at this time.
